Hotels - apologies if you've read this already

I posted a message today via motorcyclekb [1] and I just can't find it
on Google groups, so I thought I'd repost just in case.

Previously, Brownz suggested the hotel right on the Nurburgring (An
der Nordschleife). I noticed a couple of others on the BMF site:

German Rhineland, Ruppertshofen, www.german-rhineland.com

Gasthof Pension Krämer-Koch, Mayschoss-Laach/Ahrtal, www.gasthof-kraemer.de

Has anybody here tried either? I'm favouring the latter as it is quite
close to the ring but 2/3 of the price of the Nordschleife job. Also
it looks smaller and quieter. Basically, I need to get booked up as
we're off in a month.

[1] HMPS have now completely locked out Google groups so motorcyclekb
is the only way I can read the ukrm at work.

Have you tried using a newsreader that runs from a USB memory stick? Xnews
& Agent are two that come to mind.

Couple one of those with a sub to news.individual.net and you might get
access. Worked for me with previous employers.

 

have you tried using the IP address of the server rather than the
name? that works for me whereas the full name doesn't.

Well you shouldn't have been such a naughty boy, should you. Anyway, if
you're at work, don't you have some CD cases to smash into tiny pieces
for recycling or something?

 

Not unusual, I think about 1/3 of the messages I try to post via
motorcyclekb never make it through to usenet properly.

 

Have a look at Ben Lovejoy's Nurburgring site,
(www.nurburgring.org.uk) he has links to hotels around the area, you
needn't worry about biker friendly hotels, they all are!

Evening SG.... when next week ? I'm out to the Villa on the 12th and haven't
decided to go via, or come back via the Nordschleife yet.

Unfortunately a little too late - we went for the latter from the BMF
site, 27E pppn inc breakfast in a double room, 31 for single. It's 23
km from the Ring. Our plan, now, is to head straight to the guest
house from the ferry, dump our stuff there and go for rides from that
base. If we're not too knackered and the weather is good we'll do the
Nordschleife on the 1st night.

 

I haven't been a naughty boy. They say they don't mind people using
the internet on their breaks/lunch but they've locked loads of sites
out - pretty much most stuff with words like forum, games, blog,
auction. They've started taking snapshots individuals' pages viewed
when triggered by any number of key words - clicking on a Cane link
could result in dismissal. Although, that's probably true in any work
place.

Also, I have no idea what you are talking about wrt CD cases - do they
do that in some prisons?

 

Are you taking the Mini featured in your website? I'd like to see it,
we're going on Thurs eve and staying in Dunkerque then to the 'ring on
Friday. we're staying at Blankenheim, I didn't realise that the WSB
circus is in town that weekend and the hotels around are booked solid.

We're booked into the Swingate Inn in Dover on Thursday night and
http://www.terrasses-de-corton.com/ (one of my faves) on Friday night.

Have to be at the Villa on Saturday for a special burpday dinner.

Will visit the Nordscheife on the way home 20th/21st.

I'm over in the car with another car and two mates on bikes, when we get to
Bargemon two of us are hiring bikes from a company that hires out classic
brit bikes, which should be fun.

 

Bargemon looks like a very nice place, I'll stick it on my list to
visit next yea,r on the way to Tuscany.
