Nope, just clever! I prefer to have just the underjacket and my Leather
jacket at winter. Much easier to move aroudn and much more comfortable ;o)

Actually, Little Bruvver has Pa's old tin leg. It's dressed with one of
Pa's socks and one of his shoes, and, filled with dried flowers, stands
in a corner of the guest bedroom.

  4. So what are you going to do when your bike breaks down in the depths of
winter with no means to get an electricity supply, hmm?

I've said this before, but it fucking staggers me that you get people
driving cars/vans in the depths of winter with just a fucking shirt on.

Oh yeah, and take some bog roll on your travels, too ;-)

"Lowe Alpine Mountain Glove". Not Gore-tex, as it happens.

And mine are not the current model, they have more reinforcement on
the knuckles making them slightly more protective for bike use.

They've lasted me for five or six years of skiing (prolly used for
about 2-3 weeks a year in poor conditions) and biking (For two winters
of which they were used every day). Still completely waterproof, they
are, although they're not as warm as they were, due to packing down of
    the insulation.

Cos should the weather turn nasty [1], or they get a breakdown then they're
    a bit fucked.

Personally we tend to carry 1st aid kit, drinking water, torch, knife and
some blankets in the winter, together with a few basic tools, de-icer and
    WD40
If the weather is looking really grim, we'll throw some ceral bar type
things in as well, and *maybe* a thermos.

Never had to use any of it, which is nice.

[1]It *did* happen a couple of years back on the M11.

    I've never broken down.
I have RAC membership, and a mobile phone. I can't imagine any
circumstance where I'd be stuck for more than a couple of hours at
    most.

  10. Blimey. are you sure that doing something risky like crossing
the road is really for you?

Well I do (and a shovel, and the chains) when driving in the mountains
in winter, but I don't see the need for most urban UKers. I mean,
what's the worst that could happen? You might get a bit cold sitting
waiting for the breakdown man to arrive, is all.
    Whereabouts do you live then?

And if they're only on a trip around the corner?

But you don't know what those people have on their back seats/boot, or
do you carry all those things on your body when you drive?

Is that the same as a nightshirt?

Anyway they probably have a nice warm anorak and gloves
    on the back seat.

M11 2 years back. People were stranded in snow overnight. No RAC, no AA,
    no Emergency services access.

It's unusual I know, but it *can* happen.
