Looking at the GY125-2 on/off roader as a first buy learner.

Anyone here had or heard good/bad experience with these cheap Chinese
    imports?

My other alternatives are second hand Jap bikes that are a few years old and
have thousands of miles on them already.

If offering alternatives please bear in mind im 6ft 4in and weigh in around
19stone, so the machines needs to be quite tall.

    Thanks all

Yes & Yes , the Tae Kwon-Do trainings help.
Indeed it does, the Varadero 125 looks like it would be up to the task if it
    were'nt so damn pricey.

Guess these cheap imports are still too new & rare (unpopular?) for an
    assesment yet?

    Cheers

Thanks for the input, trawled through forum after forum today and the
    general feeling is "avoid".

    Thanks again.

IMHO you would be much better off with an indestructible[1] second-hand
CG125 (Makes Sign of Holy Pushrods) than a new Hongdou. Much better
build quality and reliability, and you stand a good chance of being
able to sell it for what you paid for it.

[1] As long as you keep some oil in the engine!
