Honda's scooter lineup

All I can say is Honda Australia's scooter lineup is nothing short of
    embarrasing and pathetic.
I am looking to buy a scoot just to go 10k's to work every day. I have been
a loyal Honda customer for 20 years but just can't bring myself to buy a
scooter here as they are just shit.
I lived in Japan for well over a decade and know the Japanese domestic
scooter models pretty well. The Honda Dio SR I had was great - 60k's stock
but with a few go fast parts in it, I got the 50cc bugger over 90kph. They
have a great selection of scooters over there as you could imagine.
WHY oh WHY does Honda Australia bring down the absolute crap models that
    they do?
Have a look at what you can get over there in a 50 cc jobbie

    http://www.honda.co.jp/Z4/

See what you can get here.

    No comparison.
Maybe I can write to the honcos in Japan and point out that Honda scooters
in Australia were THRASHED in the le Mins scooter endurance race. Honda won
    NOTHING.

Might embarrass them into doing something like getting decent models here in
    Australia.

Because they figure 50cc won't sell much in Oz.

I don't think Honda's really caught onto the scooter boom here, but even
if they had they have to deal with the Taiwanese scooters which will be
a lot cheaper, and the Italian ones which will be a lot cooler.

But there are heaps of 50cc scoots here and they do sell. That's what I
    can't understand.
Normally, Japan will do anything to outdo the rest of Asia in almost
anything it does. i.e.. electronics, cars, etc.
I agree that the Italian scooters are pretty good looking but the decent
Honda scooters are nothing to sneeze at either.
Just a pity we don't get them here. Honda is definitely missing out on
market share with it's current models.

I don't see a lot of 50s about in my commute compared to 125s and 150s.
Sydney is hip deep in Piaggio Liberties and the various Taiwanese 125s
but I seldom see anything smaller.

All I can say is Honda Australia's scooter lineup is nothing short of
.... for the 5-10 they possibly MAY sell in a year, it wouldnt be worth
their while. same as other manufacturers.

Go see how many Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha 50cc scooters you see on
    the market.

for most aussies a 50cc scooter wouldnt move their large carcass, and
would get wiped out on most roads.

Why would they get wiped out? 50cc scooters are the safest motorcycles
    on the road.

50cc scooters don't ride in 100k zones so your example is invalid.

Nev why do you bother? Demonstrating possession a superior intellect to
Biggus isn't proving much to anyone.

Get me pissed Saturday night and I'll tell you all about my trip to
Wangaratta on a 50cc Vespa, back in the days when there was no divided
    highway.

(or did we do that last year?)
