    Hi all,

After riding my bike for 8,000kms over the last 4 months, I rode home
from work like I normally do. Got home, switched off the bike, opened
up the garage, switched the bike back on and pressed the starter button
    to put the bike away.

    CLICK

A loudish click sound, not a bang, happened and all electrics on the
    bike died. Bugga..

Any ideas what it might be? I'm think, and hoping, it's just a fuse.
Where about's are these? What kind of fuse do I need? Are they easy to
    replace?

    Cheers,

    James

Or the terminals are a bit dirty. Try cleaning them up properly before
shelling out for a new battery.

Mined ewe, we're getting to the time of year when batteries start to show
    weaknesses.

Funny that. The battery on my bike is 7 years old and still going
strong. Is that a record? After 2 months standing, the starter whizzed
    over like a good'un.

The last battery on the Guzzi was replaced after seven years and was
    secondhand when I got it.

Trivia: It was actually out of Simon from the Levellers bike but ended
up in Simon from the railway's - hooray for me.

Do you do a lot of infrequent or short trips or have an alarm without
charging it? That seems a pretty heavy consumption of batteries, IMO.

  6. I'll raise you a year. My October 1997-registered Duke is still on the
    OE battery.
