Honda SL125 update

  1. OK, it's back at the Chateau.

The paint job is superb quality. I actually think it's been enamelled.
    Frame paint is similarly excellent.

A little bit of top end noise from the engine, but not much. Seller
threw in a brand new camchain and tensioner blade, which the bloke he
bought it from passed onto *him*. Not a good omen, but these little 125s
have a very strange all-manual adjustment system, so I'll do that first,
in the expectation that nobody's touched it for years. If I have to
replace the camchain, it's not a big job on a 125 single.

Battery's shagged. Hit the brake pedal and the engine dies as it ca't
light the fires. Owner says that after some miles of running around, it
puts enough charge in the battery, but hell, I'll spend a tenner on a
    replacement.

    Tyres are due for replacement.

Front brake light switch u/s: either the switch itself, or the wiring.

Chrome indicatior housings have been painted black.

And that's about it, really. I've taken delivery of a large box of bits
from D Silver Esq, and on Ebay won a set of genuine side panel decals
    from a Frenchman.

Nice little project. Plan is to give it an overhaul, set up the engine,
get it all sorted, and then get the wheels rebuilt (Ideally, I want to
buy a pair of shagged wheels so I can just throw them plus the new rims
at a wheel buiulder, rather than take the bike off the road). I ought to
be able to pick up a set of chrome indicators at Kempton Park, the
    weekend after next.

I do love the slim lines of the SL125. If only they'd done an 'SL250' with
the XR/RS engine in it. That would have been a lovely little tool for town
    work.
Are the likely to be any sellers with Guzzi bits at Kempton? I've never been
    to this one.

  3. There are generally a few, yes. There's just about everything - BMW,
Morini, Guzzi, Ducati, besides the main Jap makers and all the old Brit
    Shit.

Ta. Now the only question is to go on the bike (more fun & easier parking),
or take the LWB Caravelle (and risk buying another shedload of 'valuable
spares' or even another bike or two).
I just *know* SO's not going to like this........

  5. Ah, yes, this is a serious dilemma. I tend to take the bike precisely so
I *don't* get suckered into buying another pile of old shit.
