    thanks for the reply

i did have the master cylinder apart also.. i did not see a problem with the 2 rubber fittings and the piston and spring looked fine. the 2 holes in the reservoir i did notice. the bigger hole is clear.. i can see that it is .. but the smaller hole is a bit of a problem.. is the hole really really small, because i cant see a pinhole. the second hole looks more like a small divet or crater.. i cant see a hole. i also looked inside the piston chamber and i did see the bigger hole from underneith, but i did not see where this second smaller hole came thru. so it just might be clogged. maybe this is what is causing the problem.

    thanks for all your help

You hit it on the head buster!! I had the same thing happen to my CB
750 many years ago. The return hole gets stopped up with crud. I also
had the same thing happen to my FT 500 Ascot rear brake this past year.
I actually had to drill out the hole, as I could not poke the smallest
needle thru it. I used a pin vise to hold a very small drill bit and was
very careful in drilling the hole out. Do not use any sort of electric
drill motor!!. Then I used a dremel moto tool with a bullet shaped
cloth buffer to gently remove any burrs inside the cylinder where the
drill bit came through. DO NOT USE A STONE OR CUTTER BIT FOR THIS
STEP!! you will ruin the cylinder if you do.

    Hope this helps.
