Honda CB125S: Part The Third

  1. Well, if you remember the CB125S had a suspected gunged carb, because
while it revved it wouldn't tick over at all and stalled below 2k revs.

I was going to see about sourcing a new carb (they're about £40
including postage from Thailand, of all places) but then I bought this

    Ebay item 300141086513

Because I want the wheels for my own SL. I'm going to get them re-spoked
and re-rimmed, and then just swap them over and bolt on the brand new
    forks at the time.

The engine in this thing is actually a CG125 (Makes Sign of Holy
Pushrods) and runs *so* sweetly. The tank's CG as well.

Anyway, what the auction didn't say was that he was throwing in a
complete OHC engine and carb too - almost certainly the original engine
that came out of the bike, and therefore probably fucked, else why put a
    CG lump in it?

So..... I swapped the carb over with the one in my CB, and lo and
behold, it ticked over sweetly. But it didn't want to rev beyond 5-6k.

Hm. Feels like a blocked main jet......

Oh-*kay*: so let's put the main jet in my original carb into this spare
    carb...

    And bingo! A sweet-running, high-revving, nicely ticking-over CB125S.

And my God, it's cleaned up well. It looks gorgeous.

So I'll put a new MoT on it, and it can go back on Ebay. All the spare
SL125 bits I got with the field bike can go on Ebay too: SL parts are
scarce. I'll swap over the wheels with mine once I've got them rebuilt,
and then the field bike can go back on Ebay.

I did think of breaking it, actually, but the only part worth having is
the engine (if only because of its inherent Holiness), so as a nice
field bike, someone might give me £150 for it.

And I got my SL125 MoT'd today as well, and ditto the BMW as I hadn't
noticed the MoT expired in early June. Whoops.

Today has been a Good Bike Furtling Day.
