Honda CB1 400cc opinions

    Motherfucker, an on topic request!

    Any past or present owners of Honda's little 1990ish screamer. What
    are they like to ride/own/maintain and most of all how hard is it to
    get the parts.
    I've heard bad things about availability and all good things about the
    bike.....so far.

    you need to ride it like you stole it so give it beans is nearly as quick as
    a 600
    both varients eat tyres and ned proper sports stuff
    but the mills a jewel and can in the right hands suprise the bigger bike
    rider
    dio the usual checks ie it aint kniked it aint bin raced and you can not go
    far wrong especialy with the later model

    your cock in public toilets. Especially older ones.

    CB1 Mini Review

    I collected the wee monster from Kernahans in Belfast, Saturday past,
    and gave it beans for 20 miles or so down dry roads. I admit to having
    little experience of Jap 4T4's, and less still of the small engine
    variants, but this was an experience. 2 up with the possible buyer the
    rear suspension sagged very little but I could still drag my knees on
    the pavement. These bikes are seriously small. Pulling away cleanly
    did not require many beans and it seemed smooth as silk. First up were
    the usual brake checks and lots of silly steering wobbling to get a
    general feel for the agility/handling followed by a *moment* as the
    centre stand interrupted play. Yup, seized in a slightly down
    position....whew! After kicking it back up, normal play resumed and
    country road heaven was achieved.
    The riding position is fine for an unfaired bike but it was obvious
    the bike required serious revving, power being noticeable from
    9000rpm, although equally happy to trickle through traffic at 3k in a
    low gear without fluffing. A long steep hill climbs out of Belfast
    towards Moneyreagh and I gunned it in 3rd from 9k and was surprised by
    how it launched. By the time it hit 14000!!rpm my spine was set
    tingling by the exhaust howl (and the thought of the frenzy under the
    fuel tank). The bike hit 90mph right smartly and was still pulling
    hard. Progress through the bends was uneventful, nimble and wobble
    free. Ground clearance seemed just fine. The brakes were not AP racing
    but well up to the job. Vibration was noticeable but unobtrusive.
    By the time we returned to the dealer I had made more gear changes
    than in the preceding 3 weeks. That engine delivers but it needs
    constant stirring, working between 9-13000 revs, but fights well above
    it's weight. The engine is a masterpiece of gear_driven_cam over
    engineering. What it's most certainly not is a good 1st bike for a
    learner. It takes some experience to get the best out of it. I think
    newbies would be better served by a lower revving engine with bottom
    end torque. Get the CB1 at low revs in the wrong gear and it goes
    nowhere, it doesn't fluff, it just doesn't accelerate *at all*.
    I was almost tempted myself, so involving is that engine, but 2nd gear
    has a whine. Gearboxes shouldn't whine and despite Geoff's assertion
    that "they all do that Sir" it reminds me of many an early BMW gearbox
    failure.

    Back to the drawing board.
