Have you failed your MOT for a warped brake disk yet?

When you do, take it home and measure it on a flat surface. Then you'll
    discover that the new
computerised MOT brake test is slightly flawed to say the least.

When your bike fails its emissions sniff on startup from cold, will your
    tester repeat the test
    on your no-brand aftermarket exhaust?

If you are based in the West Midlands/Welsh border then the MOT testers
    school is applying a
    stricter code than darn sarf.
Borg (The OP) being on the other side of the county line from me, will find
    his testers
are taught at the same school as mine. If you bring an illegal bike (Divvie
    600, V-Max, C90 cub etc)
then you will probably fail with no appeal. If your bike is using genuine
    OEM parts then
    you can at least appeal.

but this is only my personal experience YMMustV

Well, a brake test will test brake performance, not flatness. An
apparently flat disc can give irregular braking.
How did they start it from cold? Did you push it there?

Emissions test? I'd check for spur damage on the seat cover or heel
    plates IIWY.
    How are these illegal?

  8. I dont know whether any of the pricks on here actually own any of the
bikes denoted at the end of their childish posts, but from their surly
and unhelpful attitudes, not many of them seem like any motorcyclist I
    have ever known!

As to cheap source of C90 parts it would be well worth investigating
the possibility of using Chinese made parts intended to any one of the
dozens of C90 copies that are currently being imported into the
    UK.............

s'funny ... they seem like _every_ motorcyclist I've known ... all
    different. ;)
Spares seemingly made from even rarer unobtanium than real C90 spares, which
makes your suggestion little better, if at all, than any others made.

  14. Yup. There are a million pattern parts around for genuine C90s, mind.
But, as Lozzo says, most OE parts are so cheap anyway it's hardly worth
the bother, given the lower quality of the pattern stuff. For
    indicators, bulbs, plastic parts, maybe.

I've got a pattern (Chinese-made) can on my 125. Costs £30 ot so - new
genuine ones are unobtainable, so the genuine OE item is greased and
oiled inside and out and being stored.

In the first shower of rain, the pattern can exhibited rust blotches all
over. It's nowhere near the quality of genuine Honda.

Now, why doesn't it surprise me that Lozzo knows?
If you didn't have to look it up, I'd be /really/ impressed.

I liked RD400s but preferred the old air cooled RD350s meself
I had a 1973 one, in a nice shade of red.
Went like stink after it had been "ported" but only did 22mpg on a run.

It's a real shame that direct injected 2 strokes haven't come onto the
marketplace. The RD400 concept with a bit of modern injection technology
and up to date materials science would be a compelling proposition.

'Hog came up with the following;:
Heheheh, yeah, small, lightweight, fast as **** but with good mpg's and
still looking similar to the 'real' one's. I'd join a queue for one. ;)

~60bhp, a fat torque curve, 100kg and 40+mpg looking like an RD or YPVS
with an engine that lasts 50K between crank rebuilds. I'm buying that.

but in a nice way, of course. Mostly, if you bin yer bike they'll either
call an ambulance or offer you a pillion ride home...
