There's a 400cc Bros on sale for spares around here, essentially the entire bike with a damaged engine which apparently is not included. I always liked the Bros and despite being a hopeless "n00b", I like the idea of trying a half-arsed project (that I can afford and I don't necessarily have to finish within the next 10 years) . This is not particularly serious, but if you're bored and possess knowledge on the subject, here's your chance to show it off. Your knowledge that is, not your boredom. AFAIK the Bros 400 frame is the same as the 650 bike so no problems there, but what I'd like to know is which other Hondas could donate an engine. If I'm not mistaken variants of the same engine power the Transalp 600/650, Revere600/NTV650/Deauville650 and Africa Twin 650/750 so any of those should be an easy fit (minus the potential shaft or possible gearing issues). Does anyone know if there are any differences that one should be aware of? I read for instance that the Transalp 650 engine lacks the upper rear mounting point and has at least a couple more differences that could be an issue. Other than that, I've been wondering whether the new 4-valve version is similar enough to the old engine. Could someone just use the heads/injection/whatnot and bolt them on an old engine (doubt it)? Would the newer engine be a straightforward fit in an old frame? That'd be too expensive anyhow, but I'm curious. Any wisdom regarding Bros (Broses?) and suggestions very much appreciated. "Don't be daft" does not count as a suggestion. Geo
