When I first moved up to the XX I found I was far sorer & tired arms
than I'd had before - Ended up changing the angle of my wrists and hands
on the handle bars to suit the bike, instead of me - very quickly found
the correct position (although it felt strange for the first while)

A much better idea is to raise the rear ride height. You get all the ground
clearance and all the benefits, without a misproportioned front end. Good
    for increased loads as well.

Check it out here at fireblades.org, they've got lots of other good stuff
too. If you can't view it, it's worth signing up, one of the better boards
    in the world IMO.

A compnay called Genmar in the US manufacture aftermarket handlebar risers
that work very well. I have a crook neck and have ordered them for a number
of bikes over the years. They are very well manufactured, look just like
original equipment, fit without changing cables and other bits and pieces,
and work extremely well. A bit scarey ordering them via c/card over the
net, but they arrive within 2 weeks and can be installed within 15 minutes.
I think the web site is www.genmar.com, but you will find them via google
    anyway. Good luck.

Thank you for this information...the web link is all about Boats, lol.
However a search for GenMar risers produced a number of leads.
Have emailed several dealers to enquire if they will ship to Australia.
I also have a crook neck as well as back problems.
    Your assistance is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Grump.

Have ordered the parts from a GenMar retailer: <> as
    GenMar
will not ship outside the US.
    Web site: <http://tinyurl.com/d6bap>
    Price $109 US + $9 shipping.
Still a lot cheaper than the Helibars.
    Thanks again for all replies,
    Grump.

The reason they are cheaper than the Helibars is because they are only
spacers and move the bars about 3/4 inch higher. The helibars solution
for the XX moves the bars twice as far up, back towards the rider and
also further apart, so the difference in riding position would be far
more beneficial to your back than with just a spacer, however any change
in bar position will assist. Let us know what difference it makes and
how your back behaves afterwards. Also, when you're riding the XX, lean
forward over the tank rather than reaching for the bars. Some people
find them very uncomfortable to ride because they try to sit up
    straight.
