I've been wodering if it would be worthwhile buying property in the outer
middle of nowhere in order to reap the benefits when working at home via
broadband/ webex etc takes off and people can live wherever they want.

There's also talk of my village clubbing together and buying a FOAD
windmill. Bloke up the allotment reckons they cost a million but can pay
    back in three years.

    I asked Santa for Tourettes . . . . . . . and the bugger bought me
diabetes ------- just what I wanted for Xmas :(

Anyroad - they haven't even given me the equipment to test my blood with . .
    .. . yet.
Must admit, the only symptoms I had were extreme thirst and feeling tired of
    an afternoon.

  3. I see. You sell the flour and buy electricity with it? Clever.

  4. I'm allowed one bottle a week :)

At last count we had 50+ bottles of wine in the house. And 10+ bottles
of whisky. And about 2 kilos of assorted sweets :-(

The first two I'm allowed (in moderate quantities). The last I'm not!

  5. Mine does. And gave me a freebie tester machine. And is filling out the
    prescription cost exemption form :)
Butbutbut.. I'll be *ancient* by then! *even* more ancient than I was
    feeling last week!
At this moment I'd be happy if it would go down below 10!
The nurse went through my normal diet and said "that's fine - just cut
out the boiled sweets". Which I guess is a vote of confidence..

That's got to be one step down from the "man in a pub" school of
    investment advice, surely?

    I dunno as it goes.

Thinking about the types of folks you get down the allotments and a bar
full of piss heads I reckon you could be wrong.

Welcome to the club. As if you didn't already have enough to deal
    with...

If you need any help or advice, there's far better than me to talk to,
    but I'm here anyway.

Bummer. Low GI diet and garlic and cinnamon are supposed to help.

  13. Well, not so much "normal" as "let's not alarm the patient until it
gets bad enough to warrant drug treatment."

Good advice is to be had over in alt.diabetes.support.

Now I too am diabetic I'm going to have to revise my biking jacket
fitting test, which is that with a big woolly on I can move around
freely without crushing the fish supper stuffed down the front.

As I manage mine on diet alone (so far), I have the dubious privilege
of having to pay for all prescriptions; rather that than the
alternative, I think. At least I get my eye tests free.

Or, if there is, it's a vicious prankster God: "let me bugger about with
their blood sugar; that'll annoy them".

  20. Never had one. Or acne. Or even zits.

There are compensations for having an immune system in frenzied
    Rottweiler mode.
