Hmph. So much for more expensive = better

Last year I bought a new pair of waterproof overtrousers, choosing
what appeared to be the best in the shop. Given the first serious rain
they've been used in, the bloody things were letting water in within
twenty minutes: both small damp patches on tops of the thighs and
    Boggy Bollock Syndrome.

Ah well, they always were a tad too large for me, especially as I've
become a leaner, meaner, more svelte PipL since I bought them.

I got a pair of Held overtrousers just before leaving for Austria. They
were excellent in some torrential Alpine rain.
I bought them from the Ebay shop of Bitz4Bikez in Newport

  3. Baleno overtrousers, if they still make them for bike use. Googling
reveals they are still in business for golf and fishing, so if you can
scare up a set for your bike, you're laughing. Indeefuckingstructible -
until you accidentally put them on a bonfire.

  6. Pretty mundane, really.
I was burning a load of crap that was stacked up by the inside of the
back door. Unknown to me the Balenos were folded up between two sheaves
of newspapers. Into the brazier they went.

I have a Goretex Paclite jacket. Absolutely shite compared to the £40 jacket
I had before which I never got wet in (despite it being water resistant
rather than proof) and never sweated in, even when cycling. Walk about in
the Goretex and you're sweaty in a few minutes, and that's the super spangly
    most breathable goretex around apparently.

Not really what I want, although I certainly agree the waterproofness /
layering system guff is often a load of cobblers. I just need something
water resistant that I can stick over normal clothes for the odd bike ride /
    wander around a site.

  10. About 5 years ago I bought a one-piece over-suit for the trip down Spain.
Bought it from Dave Wood. Rode through lots of snow and rain for one day.
Didn't leak. Haven't looked at it since, so might have rotted away.

I'll go and look up the make if you like. If I can find it.

Well, I've got a Spyke jacket for winter/extreme wet, so I really only
    need the trousers.

    <has a look>

    Wolf.

They're still good for damp-but-definitely-not-wet winter use as
    they're warm and have armour.
