Well, no. Personally I thought stainless steel is quite rare in the
jewellry applications, though I realise that depends on what *type* of
    shops one uses ;)
This I had noticed :) OTOH when dropped on a tile floor, it doesn't break
into two pieces like my jade one did :(

Eh? It's still gold, you know, and the whole reason why gold has been
used in jewelery and cions for thousands of years is that it doesn't
    tarnish.

    So no, it doesn't.

Aye. My wedding ring is Vicorian and is just as shiny as the day it
was made. It's a little badgered, but they all do that, sir.

  9. I am confident (it's what I did for 5 years), gifts with a declared
value over £36 are subject to VAT and Duty.

    Gifts under that value however.

Oh and FFS, if anyone does have a mate in a non eu country do the same,
make sure they send the receipt in the normal post!

Indeed. Piercings were not part of my lifesyle or that of my social

Nope, that's not what's normally referred to as white gold. It's
perhaps a cheap way of mimickin it, but pretty pointless, I'd have
    thought.

Proper white gold is, err, gold, with not very much yellow colour.

Not that keen on it myself. I just like the look of Platinum.

I got Beckys engagement ring in white gold instead of platinum, mainly so I
could spend more on the stone.

Of the precious metals I actually prefer the look of silver. Of course,
tarnishing is a bit of a problem.

One advantage, though, is that you can buy much bigger pieces. My
favourite jewlers in Cheltenham has some fabulous pieces. All my neices
have had jewelry for their 18th birthday presents from there.

The first one got platinum. The second was gold, but she got more of it.
The third got silver but it was a rather impressive - and quite heavy -
necklace. (She's the only one of the three who would wear that sort of
    thing, though.)
