I'm not so keen on them myself
But before you do that, remind RSS *exactly* where the neck is.

    It's not where I live, it's what I drive :)

Doesn't take much to cause millions of pounds worth of damage. What
about mowing down an innocent bystander and confining them to a
wheelchair for life? That's a huge cash payout in compensation.

You have been rather unlucky, haven't you!

Indeed... course no one would have paid me the £2.. in the same way no one
paid me the pot from when I got the GSX-R and didn't bin it...

I would just like to point out that I don't own a BMW... or in fact any kind
of car. And I have a vague understanding of dates...

    [expensive hobbies]

Heh. I guess that's why the Saudis are so good at it.)

Actually, sailing is a comparable hobby to biking -
you need your steed and an alarmingly large range of
    protective, warm and waterproof clothing.

  15. A freelance camera man I knew was commissioned by one of the Saudi
princes to make a film of him offshore power boat racing.

For one of the shoots out at sea, the prince arranged one of the
Saudi Airforce light helicopters to be made available to this guy. What
he didn't know was the prince had told the pilot, "If he says *get in
close*, get right in close." As he wanted some good close up shots.

So there's this camera man with a harness on standing on one of the
helicopter skids leaning out at 45degs.
"OK" he says to the pilot "I want you to come in behind the boat low and
*get in close* before you go over the top while I pan back."

Concentrating on his camera work he didn't notice *how* close the pilot
was getting. Just as they were coming up behind the boat it hit a wave
and left the water. One of the four outboards took the telephoto lens
off of the end of his camera and did some nasty things to the skid he
was standing on, on the way. Still holding the remains of the camera he
removed the cassette stuck it in his jacket and chucked the rest of the
camera into the oggin. (Insurance job he said £38,000 worth.) Then he
tried to get back into a helicopter that was trying hard to remain in
the air long enough to get back to dry land so he could send a runner
    off for another camera.

  16. There's been the situation with me, B-i-l Chip and daughter Mary (all
bikers) sitting on the settee watching bike racing on the TV. Jane comes
in and starts laughing. Every time the TV goes over to the 'on bike'
camera all three of us were leaning with the bends without noticing it.

I had three offs on my old FS1E. First one was a week or so after 16th
birthday. Bent the bits back into shape and carried on. Second one was
straight into the back of a parked car. Clever. That one really smashed
up the front end and cost a lot (to 16 yr old!) to put right as well as
arsulting in an ambulance to hospital. Nothing serious. But at that age,
at no time do I remember thinking that I should stop riding for fear of
hurting myself worse. Actually thinking about it, I still have the same
attitude (although a greater awareness of the risks..)

    Just felt like sharing that.

I rode my pushbike into the back of a parked car. Although I was looking
at my brake levers with a magnifying glass at the time, if that's any
    mitigation.

Mayfair, middle seventies. Piss head in a roller takes out a long line
of cars parked outside the Connault(sp?) Hotel just on closing time.

Three rollers, a Bently, A merc, a couple of porches. Conservative
    estimates had it approaching 750k.

He tried to do a runner into the hotel, where he had been boozing all
day, but the doorman wouldn't let him because he was too drunk.
