Just looked through the landmark list for the RBR:

    Hard Knott Pass.
    Bealach Na Baa.
    Devil's Staircase.
    Eskdalemuir.
    Wasdale Head.
    World's End.

    to name but six.

Should be fun on a Wing.

    Especially coming back down.

What are the grades (%)? We ran into one in Hawaii that was a 25% grade.
It had about 6 signs cautioning to go only if you had a 4WD vehicle.

    Devil's Staircase is allegedly a 1 in 3.

    As is Hard Knott.

  4. Went over Hard Knott pass in the dark in a Metro Turbot.
Going up, the engine seemed gutless but the brakes were excellent.
Going down the engine was much better but the brakes were crap.

It was only when returning in daylight that I realised
it was a bit steep. :)

  6. At least 3 of those are fairly close by me. Eskdalemuir isn't that
bad (gf's mother lives on that road, so I have contacts in the area).
Hardknott and Wasdale may be at least as much, erm, fun as you're
anticipating, though. You should be able to do all those 3 in one
    day.

It's a 1:4 - I have actually cycled up it, and have a photo of the sign
    at the top.

Erm, don't make any special arrangements, mind. :)

You'd have been handy for the Minera lead mines in 2002, then?

  13. Have you ever seen Hardknot Pass?

It has some very tight and steep hairpin bends.

It is. There's only one bit that's very steep though and it doesn't last
    for long.

I've done it 2 up on the RT with full camping luggage so it can't be
    that bad.

    Salad Dodger says...
I've not been there yet, but I believe it is not a nice road to get
either a large (heavy) bike around some of the sharp bends, nor is it
good for a bike with limited lock. --
