    Greetings:
I know I have read pleanty of good stuff about Highway 36 FROM Red
Bluff TO Eureka, but what about the stretch from Red Bluff east to
Susanville/Jct 395? I will be out that way next month, and I'd like to
give it a try if it's worth it. Any ideas?
    TIA, OFG

Thanks, Grumb. So you think maybe taking CA-70 through the Feather
River canyon (done it, and it's fantastic) will be better? I'm taking
someone along who's never been on either road.

... Also, CA-32 from Chico to the CA-36 jct is superb.

That CA-32 was deceptive. It's a really nice road as it winds along the
    river up to CA-36.
I'm gonna have to check that one out this summer.
Reminds me of mid-west - except with really high mountains.
Grab some eats at the lodge on Bucks Lake. Really good stuff. Nice area.
That road is one of the snowmobile only roads in the winter. You can stay
at a B&B there which is nice (Henderson's B&B??) or some cabins across the
street from the lodge. The road is steep to the east of Bucks Lake but the
RV's stay on some flatter access road and keep off the main M/C road.
    Another famous snowmobile area.

I'll toss in A-21 north of Westwood also. It kind'a lulls you into some
motorcycle nirvana heading south on it late in the day. Can have heavy
lumber-truck traffic (and they do not drive slow and will chase you!).

Cannot beat 89 through Lassen Volcanic N.P. if it's open. Used to be a nice
eatry at their Southwest entrance station (the Chalet), but it is now gone
to make way for a newer visitor's center that "may" open a a few years. The
Park Service planned on construction starting his summer on it, but the
contractor's bailed as they could not build it for the origional estimates
since construction goods rose so fast in price. The P.S. is looking for a
new contrctor and a downsized building.

Yeah, that section is pretty good, what I really like though, is Hwy 32
from 36 to Chico. Nice road!

Oh man! I used to live on Pentz Road in Paradise when I was 3-5 years
old (1957-60). Last I heard, the old farmhouse has been torn down and
new houses built on the old property.

It's just like it is westbound only you can't have french Toast in
Wildwood until later , when you arrive, so might miss breakfast. I have
only ridden eastward one time, as opposed to about 8 westerly crossings,
and the only drawback, besides breakfast, is the ascent on the eastern
slope is all downhill, so those really wonderful sweepies are all
    upsidedown...
