High speed golf clubs...

Had to play a round of golf today but the car was having some work done to
it. Thought I'd try a spin with the clubs over the shoulder.

I expected balance problems but in fact they made things pretty stable in
'flight'. At one point I almost forgot them and nearly attempted a
    lanesplit.... :)

For the record, the 2 shoulder strap golf bag holds the thing horizontally
and maintains a fairly even load on each shoulder without affecting the
riding at all at 'normal' speeds. All is well up to 120, beyond which the
bag starts to oscillate a bit, but not too badly. At about 140 you get bag
liftoff beyond which the possible consequences were beyond exploring for
    this little black duck.

Oh, and if you are into being gawked at at every point in your journey, the
golf bag accessory is a must. Just remember not to lanesplit.

Stay tuned for more thrilling trivia...

    Hi Ed,

I was hoping you wouldn't ask. I'm currently off 11 and putted like a fool.
In fact I almost putted myself to tears (something you just can't explain to
    a non-golfer!). :)

It was a stableford and I ended up with 27 points - truly atrocious and
nothing to be proud of, especially once having played to 7. Plenty of work
to do - or I could of course just give up entirely!

Are you also hooked by this wretched game?

Wait for cricket season and load up the bag on your back. Thankfully I
don't use that heavy a bat, but you tend to go thru bags pretty quickly
    the way they flap around.

  6. I've always thought a golf course would be much more fun on MX bikes
    playing golf like polo ...

Either that or rip the whole thing up and make a rallycross course.

    Cheers

For some years there was a guy who was a regular on the Bay to Birdwood
    veteran and vintage run.

On his 1930s "winged wheel" motor-assisted pushbike[1]. In his plaid
vest and plus fours and his leather golfbag with 1930s vintage clubs
    on his back.

He usually started well before everyone else, and came in with the last
of the pack, after what, 20+km? of the Adelaide hills. He always got
cheers from the spectators as he went past.

I dunno he'd have topspeed lift problems though...

i often see people with 50cc scooters with a golf bag on wheels as a side
cart as their golf buggy. Could make an attachment up, and be teh coolest
    kid on the course :)

    great with your bird :)

Hehe - if only. Perhaps the Duck could have made a sound that would have
reached you but you know the XX - the quiet achiever. Must do something
about those damned pipes one of these days!

How were you hitting them mate?

Hehe - what a sight that would be! Not sure how much traction I would get
up some of those hills. Perhaps knobbly tires would help with some of the
terrain I encounter during a round of golf!

I do see a lot of old blokes on 3 wheels around the traps. I'm always
surprised that I haven't seen any custom golf carts like you see in the US.
Surely there are enough tossers here who would be up for that kind of
stuff?? The Bentley styled carts, Porsche, Corvette etc.?? I've even seen
one done up like a military ATV in the US.

As for the 'Bird, I'll have to have a chat with course officials... :)

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Hi Zebee,

Crazy Cam and I saw a similar sight in Mt Wilson a few years ago. As I
recall, the bike was a Malvern Star, probably from the same era, and the guy
riding it featured very highly on the mad richter scale! Fairly typical of
Mt Wilson I'm led to believe. This guy didn't have golf clubs so he wasn't
    really trying IMHO... :)

I don't think that you can explain golf itself to a non-golfer, can you?
Sort of like car drivers and motorcyclists....
