Oh FOAK, I know that some have bought HID kits from Diane-Shop. I have
done the same and intend to get HPS to fit them when the ST's first MOT
    is due next week.

Thing is the instructions warn that starting the engine may make the
lights go out. Simply turn off and on again to resolve.

No worries, except I can't turn my lights off without turning off the
    engine.

Has anyone fitted HID's to a permanently lit bike? If so, are you seeing
    this problem?

If it is a problem, a light switch would seem to be the logical
solution, so would an older Triple / Sprint / Anything else control
    cluster fit my ST1050?

    TIA

I know that several people have fitted HIDs to the 675 - no one reported
a problem with it so you may be ok. I guess 'just trying it' ain't an
option for you RTB types though.

Well actually it is, cos they plug straight into the bulb plugs, but I'd
rather get it back from the little man [1] with MOT and lights as
opposed to waiting until the next service to get him to do it.

Thing is, in ops, we don't have the luxury of spare time like you do in
    integration.[2]
