I'm intending to buy some 'all season' kit soon and know the above is
pretty popular. Question is, is it too warm in summer or will I have to
shell out for a new summer jacket too? They're on sale at the moment,
£149 reduced from £199 so now is probably the time to buy.

Have used this outfit for a number of years and found it to be good
both in winter and summer. During really hot bits I just did up the
poppers and not the zip, prolly a bad idea but more comfortable. Winter
liner very effective, but I don't really feel the cold too much. The
removeable collar helps to keep the chin unfrozen. The three fingered
gloves that HG sell work very well with the outfit as well. I thought
    excellent value.

Yes but if you take out the inner liner and wear gloves and boots with
holes in it is bearable. It really is only an issue for a couple of
weeks in august when temperatures are at their highest.

Worth noting that the best way of keeping cool is to ride fast and if
any **** says HG gear is too hot for summer you can draw your own
conclusions about their riding skills and experience.

I have an HG leather jacket for summer use, not weatherproof at all but
it lets the air through. It gets used maybe half a dozen times a year so
    it should last forever.

To be honest, winter rides are restricted to the odd blast when the
roads dry out a bit but I don't often venture out if the temperature is
below, say, 5 degrees C. As well as summer I want to be able to cover
reasonable distances in late autumn and spring which with my current
combination of 15 yr old leather jacket and (denim) jeans is
    unappealing.
    I'm with you there.

My thoughts exactly. I have a Voyager 3 jacket and Pathan gloves. Never
been wet or cold but the jacket can be a little too warm in summer, so
as Brian said, just do up the poppers and leave some airflow.

I have a Voyager II. Wonderful jacket, but it's looking a bit secondhand
from being rubbed on tarmac. I'd replace it, but...

I stood in HG's Cheltenham shop for about an hour, trying on all their
jackets, and couldn't find one to fit. Most of them wouldn't fit round my
neck. They all seemed to have a little strangler strap with a tiny little
tab of velcro on the end. Some of them also had arms that were too long.
Some had ludicrous features like double zips, external phone pockets or
wrist adjusting straps that went over the zips. Eventually, the assistant
found an old-stock Voyager III, but the collar was strangler-spec. I've
never thought of myself as a thick-necked **** before.

I wasn't there to take the piss, I was hoping to purchase a suitable
replacment for my battered Voyager II. Nothing fitted, at any price. Fair
play, the assistant didn't get upset with me pointing out serious problems
    with every jacket he had...

I tried on a couple of Rev'it jackets in another shop, and their fit was
superb, and that's what I may go for. But I still dredge through ebay in
the hope of finding an HG Voyager II, black, large, as new...

Anyway, the point is, try the things on and check them thoroughly for idiot
features, don't just buy them because they're cheap. As for heat,
anything's hot in the summer. I've worn the Voyager II (without the liner)
through five summers now, and it's been no worse than anything else.

I've been wondering about replacing the liner in such a jacket with a
    heated item, Chilli or somesuch.
