I cant post to newsgroups with Outlook. I tried using another news
client (free agent) but still the same prob.

I can read news ok, but when i try and post i get this message

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'a', Account:
    'news.freeserve.com', Server: 'news.wanadoo.co.uk', Protocol: NNTP,
Server Response: '441 From: address not in Internet syntax', Port: 119,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9

I checked all my settings, and contacted wanadoo support who reckoned
they had never come accross this message (yeah i really believ that!!!)
and everyting seems to be set up correctly. If i use free agent i get a
    similar message too

So i'm having to post messages through google groups which i dont like.
Any IT types able to help me out?

    Cheers

Ha just as well i set up a new email address just for goolge as posting
through google kindly displays my email address i registered with for
    all the lovely spammers!!

(If i try and change it to a 'no spam' type one it doent work 'cos i
have to recieve an email and click on an activation link to make
    changes to the google account)

Hopefully will get Outlook working soon.

BTW additional info to above, its a fairly new PC (Win XP). I could
post ok on my previous one (win 98), but i've only just discovered it
doesnt work on this one....so it may have been like this from day1 as i
havent needed to post for ages.

Couple of things spring to mind
    1) Are you posting with a valid email address in the account settings?

  4. He appears to have the old freeserve news server in there; it
    should be something like or
depending on how long he's had the account.

    Now, where's point 2)? Come on, we're waiting! <tap, tap, tap...>

There is no point two. I said a couple of things sprang to mind, but the
other was on an un-related topic :p
