Help with Brakes

    Hi All,

    I'm having a few brake issues. My diversion failed it's MOT due to
    Binding front brakes, so I have set about trying to remedie this. I have
    taken the brakes off, removed the pads, and then re-attached the brakes
    to try and pump the cylinders out (Yeah Yeah, I now know I should have
    done this first). Anyway, I can't get any pressure into the front brake
    system. Has anyone got any Hints or Tips?

    Sounds like you will need to bleed them first so the pressure can be applied
    properly.

    Using a heat gun NOT a blowtorch you could try warming the callipers to
    assist in releasing then pump the lever to pressure the cylinders out. Might
    be a good idea to place a lump of wood in between the cylinder and the
    opposite side of the casing in case they let go suddenly.

    Taking this to the "I am a complete numpty level" Any suggestions on
    easy ways of doing this. I've tried: Plastic pipe from bleed nipple to a
    pot of brake fluid, pump the lever thing, and I get fluid coming out of
    the bleed nipple and no air (on either side). am I missing something.
    Ok, that sounds like an idea, Should I not be feeling a little bit of
    pressure in the brake lever though?

    Attach pipe to nipple. Insert other end of pipe in jar of fluid. Pump lever
    3 or 4 times, hold IN and release nipple to allow fluid to escape. Do up
    nipple BEFORE releasing lever. Repeat until air is expunged from system and
    bubble free fluid is seen in jar. Obviously cover any paintwork with PLENTY
    of rags etc to prevent damage to it. Brake fluid is an excellent paint
    stripper.
