Help Re Triumph America

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Peter Barnett, Jan 3, 2006.

  1. I need help, my bonnivile america just gives a (relay) click when i try to
start it, the battery is fully charged and the lights do not dim when i get
the click, I washed it prior to Holiday, started it and let it run for a few
mins, then covered it in a garage for about a week. I have traced the click
to a small relay under the tank, but do not know what to look for next.

    All suggestions welcome

    Peter

Clean the battery terminals. Even if you think they're clean, strip them
down, buff up the contact surfaces with emery cloth or similar, smear of
    Vaseline, reassemble and try again.

It may be something else, but this is the first thing to try IME.

I'd add that you should also ensure the frame end of the earth strap is
clean and tight. Also check the positives from battery to starter (via
    relay).
