    Them were the days.
I remember coming off the Z500 on black ice, wearing jeans obviously.
When I hobbled into the Kawasaki shoppe to buy indicators, lever, mirror
(you know, the usual), the guy behind the counter didn't bat an eyelid at
    the blood-soaked leg.
    Pretty standard stuff.

Planning? wouldn't be an accident then would it, It would be a deliberate.

Can see the headlines now, "man injured in motorcycle deliberate" nah not
    the same is it.

You forgot to mention the armoured boots :)

Anyway, I've had to take the armour out of the over-jacket. Can get
it on over the leathers otherwise.

Hey, Mad Max and his cow-orkers at the Halls of Justice used to, and
no one called them gay.Tho I've always had my suspicions about Fifi

In Chips however, they didn't wear leathers and how tough did they look?

Old Fifi would be first up against the wall. There's a few others
from the HofJ that were pretty suspicious too - not least Jim the
    Cooked Goose.

I didn't own leather trousers until late 1982, 4 years after getting my
moped. However, I did manage to **** my legs and the rest of me in a
crash in 1981, whilst wearing jeans and a lightweight 'Harrington'
jacket. That's why I bought the leathers. I very rarely ride without
armoured trousers and jacket now, and *never* ride without my back
protector after hearing about Flook's accident.
    Yep, even me.

Absolute bollocks. I've done thousands of miles in my Gericke 2-piece in
pissing wet weather and never had them leak at the join.

How are you finding the boots? Did you need to adjust the gear shift?

Indeed - I have a one piece oversuit that leaks just to add to it :)

Being a traditionalist (sic) and always wearing black leather cut-off and
combats, even I have gone safety nazi recently.
Since getting my knee down in the ultra-protective 0.003mm nylon combats
(ouch;-) I always insist on getting the outside of my toes down first, then
I know it`s only another few inches to severe knee pain and can brace
    myself;-)
The cut-off now goes over a leather jacket, not to protect my back, but to
allow easy access to my baccy;-)
The steel rod in my left leg means it`ll only ever bend and not fracture
apart and rupture thro` the jeans, the metal shaft in my left wrist means
that`ll stay in position even when the bars wrap around a lamp-post.
The metal plate in my skull proves I hav`nt learned my lesson;-))

I've binned a number of bikes in fucking cords. In the 80's *and* 90's.

I've even done it a cardigan, but that did rip. 18, in a cardigan and
fell off my DT 100. Jeez, I was cool.

  19. you obviously have never watched the Assen round because it rains every
single year or Estoril or Philip Island which usually gets an arctic
gale, rain, sleet, snow and ice - at different points on the circuit
    during one lap :)

Quite, I passed my part 2 test in, um, 93, I think. I've got a pair of two
piece leathers, somewhere, not quite sure where. Standard riding attire is
jeans, trainers and a lightweight fabric, armoured jacket.

I've crashed at low and high speed, slide down the road and flown into
stuff. Most serious injury I've had is broken toes, from performing a
stoppie, with the aid of a van, and having the bike fall over and the
footpeg, and the rest of the bike, landing on my foot. I don't dismiss the
benefits of leathers, boots, etc, but I don't think anyone should consider
    them mandatory.
