    Hi everyone,

I have a Teapot and it's not too well. It has been in storage for the
past year or so. I have done the following :-

Stripped down carbs and cleaned the shite off them.
    Replaced plugs
    Replaced coils - S/H
Replaced HT Leads and plug caps -S/H
    Oil & filter change.
    Air filter change.
    Clean petrol

It runs really rough, and just conks out when it's not on choke. On
normal idle, it dies. Strangely 1&2 don't seem to be firing right.
Feeling the pipes, 1 seems quite cool, 2 a little warmer. 3&4 are hot
    as they should be.

I have altered the idle speed to stop it dying, which seemingly worked
for a time...now it just dies. Could I have wound this too far ?

I have pulled the plugs of 1&2, and there is a nice blue spark so I
guess this rules out the CDI (or does it) ? I am considering doing the
    following :-

Replace the carbs with another spare set I have.
Possibly check valve clearances (but feeling a little nervous about
that particular job...not done it before).

I haven't had the carbs balanced, but am considering it.

Any ideas on what else could be wrong ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

  3. Are you absolutely, utterly sure that every little jet and nook and
cranny of the carb bodies is cleaned out? Sounds like the old petrol
might have left a gum in the idle circuit during the year it was laid
    up.

Modern petrol seems to prone to doing this - gawd nose what's in it
    nowadays, all sorts of shit.

  5. Off of, or out of?
What was wrong with the old ones?
Only after cleaning them really well inside.
There are passageways that get blocked and jets that clog up that are
    buried well inside the carbs.
    No need yet.
Not until its running properly on all 4.
I get loads of bikes like this brought to me. It will be the carbs,
    partially blocked internally.
