Help - Front Paddock Stands

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mark Derbyshire, Feb 12, 2005.

  1. Anybody got any advice on what is the best way to use these. I just got
    myself a Harris SS one

When tring to lift the front end (which is fecking heavy to start with) it
feels like the rear is going to roll forward off of its stand or once over
the pivot point will drop quickly and the forks bounce off of the supports

Who's had success with these buggers?

*Never* try to use a front paddock stand on your own.
This can only end in tears.

  4. They've both got wheels but when I lift the front it feels like it's
pulling the bike forward off the rear one

Just apply some pressure on the front of the bike with your free hand
to prevent this. I've been using a front and rear stand on my own for
ages on the race bike. Only time I've ever had a problem is if I'm
parked on gravel and the front one won't roll so easily.

Me, but it felt as insecure as yours does.

Stop messing about and get an Abba stand. Had I not had a single-sided
swing arm I wouldn't have got it, but I would've been missing out. The
bike goes up easy and feels pretty solid every time. This would make
using the front stand either much easier.

I've got something similar to an Abbastand. MattG's 9R has been on it
with no wheels in for about 2 months now, and it has been dead stable.

Definately agree. I nearly posted back to my own response (bad form) as I
    thought of this later.

The Abba Stand is a great piece of work and really does the job.

The one we had at the Workshop was in constant use.

The guy that runs the company delivered it personally, with all the
adaptors, as his mum lives just around the corner.
