I suppose they cpould make it easier for the Merkin riders. Just
straighten all the corners out and call it a drag strip.

  6. Or Daytona or Fontana (plus Pikes Peak, Brainerd, NHIS?)

Much of the world unfortunately has a military presence with automatic
weapons. Not unlike US airports and other US facilities immediately after
    9/11.

How many times has rain or water running across the track surface been an
    issue with Sears?

I wonder what the support class racing is like in China?

What was your reason for going there? Clearly not diplomatic enhancement.

What do you base that on?
Do baseball and football? Does the winter Olympics for that matter?

    MotoGP needs support classes,
What should be the development class preceding 600s in the US? Motocross?

Left out in the cold by the AMA which dumped the classes in favor of
production based classes. Anybody that likes racing should enjoy
    watching this little clip.

You may want to look at your map. The country straddles both continents,
with the majority (but not the whole) being in Asia.

Sounds like an attractive business opportunity to any biker who prefers
riding bikes to fettling or admiring them.

That's only because the pussies out there aren't used to running in the
rain. Now here's some water on the track ;)

Or a bit closer to home

    http://www.neviperclub.org/images/nhisflood/155.htm

We were actually racing at NHIS when that picture was taken. Every
fall the USCRA http://www.race-uscra.com/ sets up a race track in the
parking areas of the track. Just never mind the rocks and trees ;)
    http://www.lrrsracing.com/other_loudon.htm

Flat track! There were a few motocrossers that tried roadracing, but
they mostly lost their taste for it after a high speed crash or two.

Right now there doesn't seem to be a development class for roadracing
at the national level in the US. I think they should have a production
600 class that is off limits to the riders in the other classes. Any
rider that wins the class championship would have to move on to another
    class the next year.

I enjoy watching the ring-dings race. They are pure race bikes,
uncluttered by any vestages of equipment needed for street use. And
their quick response makes a 600 seem sluggish. I know I would have
liked to see our guys http://www.usgpru.net/index.php get a chance to
play in an international GP, but I don't know how many others here feel
the same way. Not sure any of our guys would have gotten to play
anyway since I'm sure there is a huge difference in equipment.

If you can consistently do 500-mile days, it'll only take you 3 weeks per
bike. I'm sure a living wage could be achieved on that basis.

  13. PP eliminated itself, not because the AMA chose to abandon it. As for bikes
    and bike fans suffering, agreed.

I don't know what the general trend of weather is in Istanbul, as I've not
been there. But we all know that southern CA is known for remarkably good
weather. Mediterranean climate actually, as I'm sure you know. OTOH, the
Inland Empire has some really nasty pollution, too (Mountains? What
    mountains?).

Great (seriously)! If more people in the US got off their asses and saw what
the rest of the world looks like and how they live, there would be a helluva
lot less American bigots (at least not ignorant ones).

OK, I'll concede this one. A quick search did not show Suzuki or Kawasaki
manufacturing a 2 stroke race rep at all, Yam with only a 50cc RR and
Aprilia with their 125. But world championship road racing isn't all about
the bikes helping sell street stuff, otherwise KTM, Roberts, WCM, etc.(dare
I include Paton?) wouldn't be in the game. I can't imagine Harley sold more
bikes because of their roadrace efforts.
You changed the question from "participant involvement from around the
world" to "where those sports are of significance and participants are
capable, they are involved". With that qualification, I would agree. But
part of the situation are Dorna taking a sport that was almost exclusively
European and (like F1) trying to make it more marketable worldwide.
Interestingly, the world superbike series seems to be dragging it's feet in
this regard, but the Flammini's seem to have their own ideas how to run
    things.
    But what should it be?

Why didn't you just say "Because most American race fans don't think
much about anything that happens outside of USA" or "We don't care to
host championships a local rider can't or won't win".

You can still get VeloSlowlexes from www.velocruz.com (Well, you can't at

    source the Chinese/French ones instead...)

  19. Perhaps it did, but the _huge_ difference between American drivers and
drivers in countries like Italy, Brazil, and Turkey (among many others) is
that American drivers take it personally when other people drive
aggressively (thus we have road rage), whereas drivers in other countries
understand that it is not a personal or territorial attack.

  20. Even though MGP should be the headliner, do you sort of see the AMA as the
main show and WSB/MGP as the supporting events at Laguna?
