Helmets

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by GarlicMonster, Mar 7, 2004.

  1. Hi all

I have a cheap helmet which was fine for the past couple of years, but now
I'm changing the bike I want to replace it and am somewhat bewildered by the
    choice and price variation.
Is there only one standard that all road legal helmets have to confirm to or
    are there several ?
Is a helmet costing £300 plus be safer than one that costs £100 ?
Is there a comparisom website where I can compare weight, noise etc before
    I start trying a few on ?
    Recommendations ?

    Thanks in advance

One Euro standard I think plus there is a separate ACU racing approval
(could be wrong about that now?)
Probably not by much. Stick to a make known to be good seems like a safe
    bet.
    Not really

For price comparisons try the Dutch motorcycle- mailordering company
    Motozoom
(they used to be called "Louis") on
    www.motozoom.nl

I don't know if they deliver in the UK, but you could always try.
    Best of luck,
