Helmets and thinning hair...

Well, sadly it's finally come to this. After 35 years of living I must
endure regular hurtful gags directed at my thinning cranial foliage. It
can't be true. It's as simple as that. Since I was a kid, I've rejected
the theory that baldness skips a generation, given that my mum's dad had a
melon that had less cover than the Sahara.

My latest theory is that for me, it is a temporary thing, caused entirely by
frequently encasing the hollow sphere in a red Shoei hair-removal device.
Folks, is this true? Please tell me that head protection can lead to
non-permanent patches of sparse cover. I must hear it...

    Cheers and ever hopeful...

Dunno. I mostly wear an open-face and have a great mop of hair (though half
grey) at 42 as does my 77 year old dad who never wore a helmet... : )

I've been wearing helmets a long time, but an open face only for the
last few years. My hair's longer now than it's ever been, and no sign
    of baldness.

There's your answer Dave, wear an openface!

Dave, it's the constant stress of worrying that "Lisa's gunna kill me".

Other things will happen too like going all pruny, shrivelling up and dropping off.

But don;t worry, you can then join Ulysses.

Aaaah yes - encouragement like that will get me through the day... :)

Isn't it true that at 40 you can join the "Ulittlies"? I'm not too sure
    about all that...

Seems like you got back safely mate - had a good weekend?

    Cheers,
    Dave
P.S. Actually - the intercom addition has been great - it's revealed that
Lisa is very relaxed on the bike at all speeds and even encourages a bit of
hastiness every now and then. :)

    Hi Zebee,

Glad to hear you're still sporting all your hair! :)

As for my lot, it's only a tiny area right at the top of my head that seems
to be slightly thinner, and I think that's an area of helmet contact that
has a little more pressure than everywhere else (or so I'm telling myself).
    I guess time will tell...

    Cheers,
    Dave

Yep ya can join us at 40 and mate the rot has set in you will go bald, you
balls will get smaller and your wife WILL nag you more, my best advice is to
get use to it, as it will NOT get better. The world sucks, shit happens and
low and behold it could get worse, ya could scratch ya bike. **** could be
worse you could ride a harley note no capitals LOL.

Hey Lushy - that's a hell of a bright picture you are painting there.

2 things of note here - I hope *never* to scratch the bike, and I will
*never* own a hardly... (no caps...). :)

    Cheers,
    Dave

Wish I could say that helmet pressure is causing the patch on the back
    of my head
Even an open face will not save that bit.
Unfortunately genetics are a bitch Dave.

Have you tried the "It's not a bald patch, it's a solar panel for a
sex machine" retort? Bear in mind that it's caused by excessive
    testosterone...

Of course if you have a moustache it means that you're a pervert.

  17. Mhmmm... Hormone-whore moan... a ribald, caustic, off-the-cuff retort from
Coney the weird old Taswegian bastard. It's in character, and sufficiently
understated... that does manage to limbo in under the tripwire.

While you're asking, though, a fine's in the post to Damien for his
contribution to the "Make Speed Cameras Obvious" thread, and I'm not even
gonna bother with the post immediately below yours.

You can become a junior member of Ulysses at 40.

To join Ulyttlies, you need to be a Ulysses member and ride a 150cc or
    less!
