I was only joking, but it's just chucked it down here. I just got in
intime, although the bright interludes did require sunglasses.

Cos the rules for drop down visors are different from 'normal' visors AIUI.

Last I heard (or thought I did) is that they are treated like sunglasses in
the sense that if it's too dark to see, you'll just push it out of the way.
It seems that most bikers are not prepared to carry a clear visor and pull
over to change it if visibility drops. Hence the silly permitted tinit
level which also does not apply to flip downs and (obviously) sunglasses.

This could be utter shite, but I'm sure that was it when I bought my Lazer.

Not really. The standard for visors, although influenced by the grade
of tint, is mainly concerned with impact resistance. It is assumed
that an internal visorette, such as you describe, will not need to
resist impact from airborne chippings and the like, as the outer,
approved visor will be in place to protect it. Probably.

Because the internal drop down tinted visor is not the primary face
shield, it is regarded in law in the same manner as a pair of
sunglasses worn behind a clear visor. The primary face shield is the
clear visor that comes stamped as legal. To be fully legal it ought to
be impossible for the internal tinted one to be the only form of eye
shield, but this has been overlooked somehow.

On the Caberg Downtown open face lid, if you raise the outer clear
visor, then the tinted one goes up with it, you can't have just the
    tinted one down.

  10. That would be the outfit who've resorted to spamming the group in the
past. I've bought from them before, very shonky packaging of goods and
after their spamming I crossed them off the list.

They are perfectly legal because they aren't the primary face shield.
They stick to the inside of the clear visor.

I had some ****, when I was at Hein Gericke Harrow, complain to me that
his holographic insert wasn't very visible, mainly because the
fucknugget had stuck it to the inside of a dark tinted visor.
