  1. No coal and they've switched to metal and plastic office furniture? :)

At least around London, most of the S1s I've seen already come with
the double-D fastener instead of the seatbelt one.

BTW, how do you like it? I'm pretty happy with mine, only downside is
it's tendency to have the occasional drop of water run down the inside
of the visor in heavy rain.

    Furniture? In Cumbria?

It's a bit noisy, but I can live with that.
The ventilation is poor: it's rather stuffy in hot weather unless you're
    moving at a decent pace.
It mists up badly: both with the original anti-mist thingy, and later with
    a FogCity insert.
It leaks. In very bad weather, at speed, I get a fine spray of water from
the chin vent - weather it's open or closed. More seriously, the visor
seal leaks quite badly, compromising visibility. Only in very heavy rain,
but I'm not happy with a helmet that I can't use under all conditions.

    Same here.
mine was ok (just one plus) with the visor open just a touch, the decent
pace bit doesnt apply to the scooter :)
Mine did used to mist but again i would open the visor just slightly.
Mine never leaked but i guess thats the (lack of ) speed I did.
So for me its still a possibility, but thanks for letting me know.

  7. I am very happy with my S1, although the combination of my height and
the RT's screen creates some unusual effects.

Noise levels within the S1 are very low when riding with the bike's
screen in its lowest position, but with the screen in its highest
position, the altered airflow raises noise levels to a point where
they do not appear to be significantly different to when I am wearing
my OGK. Schuberth draw attention to this possibility in the users
handbook (which, as you will be aware, is about the same number of
paes as the average motorcycle manual!).

The environment within the S1 can also become rather stuffy in hot
weather. The ventilation system simply doesn't shift enough air
through, but having ridden an unfaired motorcycle on a hot day earlier
this year, I realised it is the RT's fairing, not the S1, that was the
cause. I switch to the OGK if I know I will be taking in any amount of
low-speed riding on a hot day. The OGK's extra vents - and probably
their off-centre positioning - plus the absence of a chin glove as
fitted to the S1 make all the difference.

My S1 also permits rain to run down the inside of the visor. It
usually happens only at low speeds, or after a prolonged period riding
at speed in heavy rain. I suspect rainwater builds up along the top
edge of the visor seal, but is held there by the airflow over the RT's
screen. As soon as I slow down, the occasional teardrop appears at the
top of my field of vision, followed eventually by a rivulet of water
down the inside of the visor. This doesn't appear to affect the
excellent anti-mist properties of the coated visor, however, and I
have certainly owned numerous helmets in the past which exibited the
same characteristic - or much worse - and in the process washing off
whatever anti-mist treatment I may have applied to the inside of the
    visor.

About the only helmets I can think of which would probably not permit
rainwater to run down the inside of the visor would be the Nava 2 of
the 1980s and the (?) Porsche Design helmet of the same period; both
of which had visors which were contained within the helmet's shell and
    not fixed to the outside.

Paul Varnsverry was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Yep, same here on the Pan - I'm actually looking into fitting a higher
    screen for that reason.
Well, during low-speed riding I simply tend to leave the chin vent
open - the additional airflow is quite nice. But granted, it doesn't
flow *that* much air - one of the reasons that it is so quiet, I
    believe.

Grrr. Yep, same here. Never had that on my Shoei XR800, but both the
S1 and the crappy X-lite flipup lid I've got do that.
