Since I fly to Heidelberg tomorrow, I figured I'd better get my helmet
cam videos sorted before I leave. I just posted my first Youtube vid
and it seems to work. Now I need to get the soundtrack, title and
captions down, but the GoPro Camera and MS Moviemaker work like a
charm. Go ahead and rag on my riding if you must.

  3. Apparently so. Just one question - how tall are you? It looks like you
must be about 12 foot tall with the camera angle in the vid.

Well yes, you're all over the fucking place.

Those GoPro cameras have a weird fisheye type lens on them - that
    probably accounts for it.

Yeah, that's one of the problems. There are 5 resolutions. The highest
HD is the only one with a 125degree view. The rest are 170. That was
shot at the lowest resolution for file size. I did a 11 minute ride
that took 1.5Gig of MP4 at the highest res.

I'm 6'5" and the camera sits high on top of the helmet.
Whattayamean? I stayed in my lane except to pass.

  7. Thought so.
Ahh. Could you mount it to one side?
    Yes, you did.

Is the aspect ratio right? That looks like it's 16:9 squished to 4:3
which would make you appear even taller.

I suppose so, but why? It came with a bunch of mounts, so I could
mount it on the bike in a couple of places, too, but I'm not fond of
the view perspective leaning back and forth as the bike goes around
corners. One surprise is how much wind resistance the thing has at
speed. You can definitely tell it's up there.

Good point. It only has one lens and aperture/sensor, so it's all in
the software. The data sheet says that setting is "Wide angle/
    Standard definition 16:9/WVGA - 848x480/60fps".

  13. Well, in youtube it's 480*360, which is 4:3, not 16:9 and it's at
30fps, so somewhere between the camera and youtube, things have got
    squished.

By the way 0:30 to 0:40 is anexample of where your lines could be improved.

    Since 2007.
"Greek and Turkish YouTube users have been trading video insults over the
past few months, attracting much coverage in the Turkish press. Greek videos
reportedly accused the founding president of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa
Kemal Ataturk, of homosexuality; a Turkish user responded by calling Greece
the birthplace of homosexuality. It is illegal to criticise either Ataturk
or Turkishness in Turkey and the prosecutor's office in Istanbul acted
despite YouTube's agreement to take down the offending videos"

A great future addition to the EU I must say.

Yeah. As I wrote, it was a training ride. I ride every day, but for
the last year or more, it's been all urban or Interstate. I used to
get into the mountains every week, but life happens and the body
forgets. I could make more excuses, like the ST isn't a great handling
machine, and my essential tremor and poor reflexes make it harder at
    62, but I'll get better.

  16. I see you have some proper roads to practice on.
The bits overtaking the slowcoaches reminded me of "Roadrash" and I was
disappointed at the lack of kicking and punching action.
