Trashing it and needing a replacement was the silver lining to my cloud
when I fell of in February.

Mine did. On the ferry to France earlier this year I stuck the whole
helmet under a hand dryer in an attempt to remove some of the
dampness that I had acquired on the way to Dover. Cleared quickly
    enough though.

The top seal doesn't IYSWIM. It's not been a problem whilst on the
    bike.

No, I much prefer them too. Apart from anything else I used to almost
wear out D-link type fasteners in the days when I commuted on my bike
absolutely every day. They'd get all frayed and tatty.

I'm in the market for a new helmet too as I'm back to daily bike
commuting for a year or so and my current Shoei TXR is a bit oldish.
I'd like to find something a bit quieter if possible and also more
mist free. It sounds like an Uvex is the thing to look for.

You're quite right, my current Shoei has a seat belt type clip and an
    ACU Gold sticker.

Indeed, my last three Shoeis have all had this. As it happens, I don'k
like it very much, as the strap has a tendency to work loose over time
and is a right pain to tighten up again. I'd prefer the old 2-D ring
    type, given the choice.

I don't know any D-ring equipped helmets that don't have a popper for
    the loose strap

Mine doesn't, but it has a sort of velcro stuff on the loose strap so I can
stick it out the way (when it actually works)

I had a TXR before my Uvex, it was a good step up to a decent helmet

I know, I would have thought AGV would provide poppers on their helmets ;)
