    Nope, I like 'em, too. My Roof Diversion R-010 has one. In fact, with
    the exception of a cheap, £90 Bell thing I bought about three years ago, all my lids
    have had 'em.

    Elly has an HJC which she rates similarly - especially the comfy and
    quiet bits. Similar price too, iirc.
    Last time I went to Manc they were just moving the shop to new
    premises "down by the prison".
    That's the one I used to use - little place, on the main drag into
    Chester from the Pulton Park side. Just a nip down the road from you,
    Bruce ;-)

    Sorry to piss on your bonfire Loz, but that's pretty pointless. They
    don't do Uvex gear any more - my lid was one of their last. My info
    came from one of their directors at the BMF in May, confirmed by their
    Sales Blerk by phone subsequently.

    YTC#1 fascinated us all by saying...
    Both of my Wing RSs[1] are black[2].

    [1] One for winter, size small so I can get a fleece balaclava in
    underneath without stretching the linig and making it baggy. One for
    summer, size XS, to be worn without balaclava.
    [2]I had one of them painted black professionally, cos I couldn't be seen
    wearing a bright blue, silver and red lid. The lid was a gift from my ex
    :)

    Champ fascinated us all by saying...
    I was under the impression that they weren't legal for FIM sanctioned
    events, but perfectly OK for ACU races. Uvex have ACU approval on all
    their lids sold in UK, and they all, bar the Factory Pilot, have a seat
    belt fastening.

    I'm sure the ACU rulebook will clarify this.

    I'm sure my Shoei had both a seat belt type strap and an ACU Gold sticker.
    Can't check as it got thrown out in my last house move.

  10. My shoei definitely has both a Gold sticker and a seat belt style clip.

    Aye, that's the importer. Loz used to work for them.
    They're a bunch of greedy bastards, that's the trouble. People here
    have managed to obtain them for 200, 150 and 99 quid to my knowledge.
    It's a matter of keeping your eyes open, but I don't know offhand of a
    distributor in your area - or one doing 'em cheap mail order either.

    By J&S?
    Yes, it does *look* a litte tacky, but it's a lot of lid for the money.

    That always /used/ to be the case and the reason I used to by Shoei.
    However, a recent(ish) trip to J&S had me try on an Arai despite my
    protestations to the sales-blerk that "it won't fit, they never have" --
    "Well I'll be blowed!" Lovely fit; Quantum F, it was.

    Couldn't fork out the dosh, mind.

    I like my Roof lid for:

    Its looks

    Safety -- Rob Frost was wearing one during his little excursion into the
    scenery, recently...

    Its quietness;

    I also like the fact that the standard visor (an ever so slight tint) does
    /not/ mist up, even on the coldest mornings.

    Things I don't like about it (well, you live and learn) are:

    The very-much-not quick-change visor mechanism -- I have to carry an
    old-style 10p with me;

    The fit of the visor itself -- it doesn't seal at the top very well and
    water collects on top of the rubber "beading", causing a nice cascade down
    the inside of the visor if you flick it open;

    The top vents are very fragile;

    The chin vent directs cold air, bugs and rain directly at your lips and
    mouth and doesn't close properly.

    Oh and the dark tint visor I have (iridium, actually) has no anti-mist
    coating at all and mists at the slightest mention of moisture.

    Bear fascinated us all by saying...
    Why buy a second if the first was shite?
    I may have said that a particular model was shite, but on the whole I
    like Drivers. They certainly don't compare to the Likes of Shoei and Arai
    etc, but as far as >100ukp lids are concerned they do the job quite
    nicely. I wouldn't wear one myself though, cos I value my head alot more
    than the target market of Drivers generally do.

    I remember once a woman buying a breakable object, paying, leaving the
    store and bumping into someone about 10 feet outside the door dropping
    all her bags etc, all visible on the CCTV. She then came back in and
    asked if the box was supposed to sound like this <fx: shakes box and
    rattles> and trying to claim it was damaged before she left the shop.

    She tried all of the above "tricks", so we offered her another one at
    full price. Had she been sensible about it and not lied, we'd have
    swapped it and sent it back as damaged on arrival.

    Customers eh? who'd av em..
