Time to get a new lid, I really like my FM, but they don't do the same
model just one that has fancy fin things on it and frankly looks crap. The
new model fits well but I just can't see myself in it.

My budget is £100-£150. I see no sense in paying more. I tried on a £500
lid and it was uncomfortable !

There seems to be a plethora of "new" lid manufacturers.

    Premier
    Nitro
    HJC

Any one any comments to make ?

    Any other recomendations ?

I don't fancy AGV as 2 people I know who had them had really bad misting
up problems in the wet (despite using all the modern gubbins).

  2. Personally I have a Shoei, 2 Lasers and a cheapo Akito for
    pillions/lending etc

I note that J and S have some Shoei Interceptors reduced from £389.95 to
    £179.95 ( http://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/sitepages/specials_helm.htm ).

Yes, naturally it comes in Black. I've not bought a helmet
that wasn't black in about 20 years.

I've had a HJC since February which is very comfortable.
Previous lid has AVG which I hated: drafty noisy thing it was.
Before that I had a Suomi, which I liked, but the new Gunwind, although
a good fit for me, doesn't let me get my glasses on, which is a little
    inconvenient.

TBH, I think that in the 150+ class they're pretty much all the same.
Just try a lot on until you find one that suits.

I bought an HJC AC-10 (first helmet), which I fitted a fog city to. So far
I am very pleased with it, no misting (prolly due to fog city), comfortable,
not too noisy (I don't wear ear plugs), and plenty of ventilation. Also, a
double d ring fastener rather than one of those mini seatbelt clip types
    (don't like them much).

    I would deffo have another.

I'm going to be trying a Uvex with the double glazing visor thing.
My AGV was mist-free[1] until the visor coating wore off about 2 years
into it's life. The replacement visor isn't coated so it does mist a
bit but not a lot. I like it, and I'd have another.

[1] misted a couple of times, but that was only slightly and in freezing
    fog.

I bought one this summer. Very comfy even though it is half the price of
    some Arais.

I prefer the DD rings. Never really liked the Shoei seat belt thing as it
    was fiddly with cold hands.

Bear once gave me a very useful piece of advice[1] which was to choose a
helmet the fits my head. Sounds stupid but some makes fit and some don't.
I've got a Boxer Roof that I've worn twice. I liked the look of it but it
just didn't suit me from a comfort point of view.

I have an Arai 'head' and occasionally Shoei, apart from that most other
makes don't work for me. It's the one piece of kit I won't skimp on.

    I've yet to try Uvex.

    [1] Tempting... but I won't ;)

Forget HJC, the only lid they do in black is a flip up job. And I don't
    want one of those.
