Will accept all 'polishing', cream, tablets, visit doctor advice........
    BUT
The helmet I crashed in is knackered. It was a noisy b'st'r'd, full face
lift up the front jobby with two visors (one inside sunvisor).
I would like to replace with a quiet one of similar design... can't decide
and no-one mentions quietness in their ads.
Anyone recommend a make and model please.
    TIA

Something that isn't a front lifter. They are the noisiest helmets on
the planet, all of them, without exception.

Not my Nitro F317 flip-front. It's the quietest helmet I've ever used.
Your old flip front might be noisy, but not all of them are.

My Caberg is quite good on the noise / features front. They come in
plain black too. It's got this nice flip down inner dark visor thingy.

They're ok, apart from the fact they're a polycarbonate lid, and cost
149-99ukp. All they offer in features over the Nitro is the drop down
tinted visor. The Nitro's RRP is 89-99ukp

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo
Loz, have a nag at the manufacturers about that drop down visor. It's a
stunningly useful thing on the Lazer, and its absence the only reason I
wouldn't buy a Nitro when the current lid's due for replacement
    (assuming they fit).

Not at all. Geezer wanted quieter and it is not going to happen with a
front lifter is it? The things are intrinsically fucking noisy. End of
    fucking story.

Given the above scenario, my recommendation is for an ordinary full face
    helmet.

On a purely personal level I have no intention whatsoever of ever buying
anything other than a front lifter ever again. I like them and I am
content to continue to use them to see if it is possible to wreck my
hearing along with the rest of my body in a fairly even fashion.

You have got to remember I am on a time constraint here and there are
bits of me that are hardly fucking used. Newly new some of it and I can
tell you right here and right now that I have no intention of going to
my grave with pristine body bits.

I can see it now at the pearly gates. Me turning up with internal
organs as fresh as a daisy and St Pete would be straight on the Phone to
the Boss to get him down.

"Oh I dunno mate. I ain't so sure we can let you in. After all we gave
you sex, drugs, rock 'n roll, red meat and motorbikes and you turn up
here still mostly working. I hope you have got a good excuse."

And what am I going to say? Eh? "Sorry Sir. Bear told me to do it.
Sir." That'll go down more like a misere won't it? Fiery furnace time
    for me innit then?

I will be the first admit that some parts of my body have got a bit
catching up to do. Some of them are lacking woefully behind. We need
not go into specifics at this particular time but there are, without a
shadow of doubt, some parts of me that cause me concern in the extreme
at their "fit and ready for action" condition. I mean, my time of life
with my skills and enthusiasm and there are parts of me that should
have been whittled down to the size of a matchstick. It don't bear
    thinking about does it?

By the same token: there is the odd major internal organ here and there
that is a little but ahead of the game.

The problem though, as I see it, is not the bits that are teetering on
the edge of the abyss. Far from it, they serve as an everyday reminder
of how the rest of me has sitting at home watching East Enders when it
should have been out bopping. They are the worrying ones as I see it.
    And what a waste?

Well I am not having it. When I go I am going go together. If I get it
right then the electric bill will be on the list of things to consider
when the quacks are discussing me. That or I will die trying.

    No. they. aren't.

You've worn *one* and that's noisy, that doesn't mean all of them are.

Bollocks. My Shoei flip front is the quietest lid i've ever worn. I once
saw an ugly girl, therefore they must all be ugly.

Look you people there is no point, to the best of knowledge the SbS#
list is closed. There hasn't been an award of one to anybody in years.
The kotl won't even talk about it.

Besides, as far as I can make out, ordinary witless dickheads don't
appear to qualify. Although you must remember that I still don't know
what the criteria is for getting one.
