'lo all. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm in the Ipswich (Qld) area
(cue comments regarding intelligence and/or fashion sense!) and just got my
    '84 VF500F registered (Monday).

    Welcome Rusty.
    I'm down in Melb.
I hope the Rusty name doesn't come from the state of your Ride. ;)>

Welcome Rusty. Congratulations on having the sense to take the piss out of
Ipswich before you start. It will short circuit most of the stereotypical
responses about having two heads etc.

    We're at Wavell Heights. I've got a 92 Fizzer and my gf has a 98 VFR800.

If you're out tomorrow, we're going to be having lunch at the cafe up at
Glorious. We're meeting a group of Victorian riders who's coming up here to
start a big tour southwards. The Victorians will be easy to spot, there will
be 9 heavily loaded bikes ranging from Pegasos to ZZR250s. We should be easy
to spot too, the Fizzer is fluoro orange and Jen has pink leathers. We'll be
up there about 12.30-1 tomorrow, so if you're up there say gday.

Welcome Rusty, and please make yourself comfortable.
My name is Clem and I'll be taking your piss tonight, so if there's
anything stupid you need to say please start whenever you feel ready.
(And if my arm stops hurting for long enough I'll probably be up Mt
Glorious tomorrow too. Look for the feller who starts checking his watch
and getting antsy about 30 minutes before everyone is ready to leave!)

By the way; we already have a "Rusty" so I suggest you may need another
    nickname.
    May I suggest "Hogfelcher"?

    Gday Rusty.

Clem will probably suggest you call yourself something with "felch" in the
name, so I suggest you short-circuit that by declaring that you wish to
known as "Raggett". If you want to call your bike "Armageddon", that would
    be really cool, too.

Ipswich? Isn't that where the men are men and the women eat their young?

Obliging sort, are you? I'm one of those odd people who actually like the
heat, so yeah, it's not bad.

I see. Sorry to disappoint you, but I think I've used up my stupidity
allowance for the week. I'll have another go on Sunday ...

Ta. Anybody else got any suggestions while we're at it?

*shudders at the thought of eating Ipswichites* - I'm not a local. I've only
been here a little while. It hasn't affe-affe-affected _me_ yet.

Yeah, the diskbrake that has a shroud over it, weird idea really but it seems to work
    after a fashion.

*bowing down in awe at Clem's awesome capacity for ... umm ... perhaps I
    don't wanna go there ...* :p

*Insert blank look* By the way, were you serious about there already being a
    Rusty?

Nope, it has an ordinary rear disc brake, that is quite strong. Wish I could
say that about the twin disc setup at the front ...

    The Magnas had a drum.

Ahhh Ipswich , used to have a great circuit , 2 lanes through the town in a
circle , great for drag racing cars and bikes , ashame they decided to
wreck it by putting in speed bumps
