I've had one Gericke Voyager last me 6 years doing the sort of mileages
I do, and it's still got loads of life left in it.

You can stick yer cheaply made Dainese stuff, mate, I'll go with quality
    over style any day.

If you're going to buy cheaply made stuff, buy proper cheaply made
    stuff and keep me employed.

Do you replace bikes because they wear out?

Bike clothing is a different matter. I don't buy it because it's a
fashion item, and I choose it very carefully with the intention of
keeping it for as long as possible. I choose bikes to suit the mood I'm
in at the time, with the intention of selling them whilst their residual
value is still good. That might be a year down the line, it might be 2
years. With clothing the market for used stuff is limited, and it
quickly becomes worthless, so I buy decent stuff and make it last.

Fair points but I just like to change gear every now and again. Usually
on a whim because I see something I like.
I've sold on a couple of little used items right here at fair prices.
I'm glad to say they were more appreciated.
