Quite entertaining in an overloaded VW camper van on a windy day rushing
    for the ferry ...

**** yes. I was well impressed with the way they've done the place. It
makes Burmingham look like it's moved into the 21st century at last.
Very commercialized though. Maybe a bit too much...

You'll be ok once you learn to drown out the accent. If you're there
for a while give me a bell and I'll head back from Warwick that way and
    buy you a pint.

I used to work there. 19, the old telephone exchange. Nice office,
    shame about the bankrupt company.

I'll add my voice to the tumult. The new Bullring is quite a wacky
    piece of architecture

I've not been in that yet. I may pay a visit before I'm back at work.

I went ice climbing yesterday, up fantail gulley on Crib y Ddysgl.
It's only a grade 1 climb, but it was a bit 'thin'. We free climbed
it. I only used one axe and my crampons. It was a bloody fantastic day
out. The weather was unbelievably good. You prolly only get days that
good once or twice a year in Wales. From the top you could see forever.

Sounds great. But why freeclimb it? What was the exposure?

Are you staying up here or commuting?

If you're staying we'll do beers in Birmingham one night.

For speed and enjoyment primarily. Everyone in the party was a competent
winter climber (7 of us). If you don't have to stop to belay or faff about
placing protection or mess with ropes, you can move much faster.
It's enjoyable because of the increased risk and exposure. Gives you more
satisfaction. The exposure was, well, if you fell off, you'd be lucky to
stop before you hit the bottom. There was the potential for a fall of
    200-300m.
Plus the fact that it's never a good idea to fall of anything if you're
    wearing
crampons and carying sharp, pointy tools.)

I also find it a convenient excuse not to go parachuting.

If you get digs, best thing to do is find somewhere near to any of the
train lines into the city, this it probably the easiest way to get in
    and out.

If you're bringing the bike, then parking is a doddle. There are
several free bike bays on Newhall Street that are never full. I used
to use one right outside my office.
Now that I'm living in sin I know sadly few single women. But believe
me, it'll be easy enough to find some in town.
