.... a steaming plate of top notch bubble.

Wild duck, bacon, roast and mashed spuds, kumara, sprouts, savoy
cabbage, leeks, parsnips, chestnuts, and proper gravy.

    Yum.

Similarly a damn good curry at Tayyabs in Fieldgate St is just as welcome.
Perhaps a little too authentic for Western tastes.

  3. Hang on, hang on, just wait a damn minute.

You're a real Indian and you're pointing ukrm in the direction of a
decent curry house? Did you *want* to get trampled in the stampede?

And we need details, man, details. Which Fieldgate Street where?

    <Googles>

Ah, this one. Right. Sounds good.

    That is the one.
Although it might not look an authentic curry cafe (Proper seats and Indian
"Sweets" and delicacies) it is much nearer to proper cuisine than some.
Just up the road there is Lahore Kebab, run by some friends of mine. Smaller
menu but the food is every bit as tasty.

Both places do the best Pistachio (and other flavour) Kulfi around.

Always busy at both and wise to book, although I don't because I am "known"

Are you familiar with the ukrm acronym 'DFV'?

I have looked this DFV thing up.

It appears from various websites I visit that have anything to do with UKRM
things the term relates to someone who is volunteering to do arrangements
for an escapade, meeting or some such activity and has limited intelligence
    probably.

Unfortunately I am not that organised, although there appear to be many on
this newsgroup that are very accomplished organisers, such as yourself as
    one.

Being known in a restaurant is one thing, letting loose a stampeding herd of
buffalo in a tea shop would be another matter even if they were my guests.
Although I have been in Tayyabs when the pubs "Chuck out" and it is quite
amusing watching the hard east-end men trying to outdo each other by
drinking the chilli dip which comes with the Popadums.

Believe me it is EXTREMELY hot, hotter than a Phal..............as you say
here.........it "Burns your arse" the next day too.

Don't underestimate people on Usenet or UKRM.

I don't know anyone enough to estimate or underestimate them.

If they can down a bowl of *that* chilli dip and not show the effects, get
up the next day and not need a hospital treatment in between then they are
    certainly not human.

Going by some of the posts on here I find that almost normal for this group

  12. Unlucky (commiserations), I love a nice fresh crispy onion bhaji with a
dollop of raita, followed by a lamb curry with lots of cooked tomatoes and
    onions in a thick sauce.

The Lahore rocks, as several from here can testify (Sean Doherty and
Blaney, off the top of my head). We (work) do lunch there occasionally -
    never been in the evening.

A colleague goes crazy for Khushbu on Whitechapel High Street as well.

  15. Well of course.

Although, on the second day of christmas my ISP brought to me:-
12262 (and rising) spam email messages.

    Fucking madness.
    Exactly what spamcop will say.
