What's the score with bike parking at Heathrow, specifically T2? All
the info I can find points to it being available & free, but it's not
clear if there are bike bays in all the short-stays, or just 1A, or
    bugger knows where.

  2. The free parking is actually under T1, but that's right next door to T2,
so it's just a short stroll.

Head for T1 after going through the tunnel, and bear to the right of the
inclined ramp leading up to the higher level.

All the bikes are parked under the ramp. It's not like there are proper
    marked-out bays.

Don't take the MV - bikes are crammed into the bays at heathrow like
    sardines ...

The MV should be at base camp in Switzerland by the time I get to
Heathrow - I'll be on the Tiger. Squeezing that in could be fun if it's
a bit tight - bloody girt lardy thing.

Just a question, but why not take the train to Reading and get the Air link
coach? A bit hoi polloi I know but it works well and would remove a lot of
    the hassle.

It's to the left of the ramp for terminal 1 departures.

But the parking under the ramp is crowded. If you carry on that road to
almost the end of the NCP car park (the road is between it and T1) then
there's more bike parking just after the exit of the car park. A much
    more civilised place to park.
There is proper marked out bike parking on the other side of the NCP
park (i.e. follow around the road mentioned above and then take a left
near the second entrance to the NCP) but I've never used it so don't
know if it's free or not.

There should still be a specific area just to the left of the ticket
barriers for cars entering into the multi storey car park down the road
(& to the right) from the loading/unloading area outside T2. I used it
this spring, and will be aiming for it again on Friday.

There also presumably still are bike specific areas (free) on the ground
floor in the car park opposite T3; as well in a third multi storey
building downstream from T3 on the way out. But I haven't used the
latter the last year. I think it was refurbished between one and two
    years ago.

That does sound much more civilised. So it's through the tunnel, head
for T1, go to the left of the ramp (not up it) & carry on til I see
bikes, yes? Would that be Croydon Road or Cranwell Road on <url:

That would mean getting a taxi to the station, then a train to Reading,
then a coach to Heathrow, then the same in reverse when I get back?
Doesn't sound like less hassle than just jumping on the bike to me,
although it probably would be if I didn't have hard luggage to leave my
    helmet/boots/jacket in.

Flew to Glasgow last week, and now wish i'd taken the bike to Heathrow
rather than the Rail Air fiasco bus.

  16. On one occasion, I left my bike gear in Heathrow's left luggage office.
Tip - if you do this, take a big bag and stuff everything in, because
they charge by the item, and a big bag is one item whereas helmet,
goves, jacket etc counts as more.

  17. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, The Older
Second big tip, watch your arrival times back home, and make sure that a
one hour delay won't mean that you arrive after the left luggage place
    closes.

I mean, FFS, major international airport and the left luggage place
closes before the last flight lands.

    Cunts.
