Watched a bit of heartbeat tonight and it appeared the young copper was
riding a triumph 2 stroke with a very Yamaha muffler ( looked triumph
anyway), certainly not the Bsa 2poke he was on in the last episode I
watched a little of . Has anyone actually worked out the brand ?.

It was a Frantic Bastard - sorry - Francis Barnett.

    And I quote:

It is a Francis Barnett from 1960 - the film-crew paid £300 for it. From
season 8 it was replaced by a BSA.

There's also an A10 Golden Flash (which may be the one alluded to above)/

Ah yes , thanks as I thought it looks familiar but couldn't think what
it was , I believe one of the lads I attended highschool had one before
he bought a triumph 350 twin about 1967 when I bought my shiny enamelled
Hrc and tried to die a month later . I still bear the scars :\(

I've got the younger brother in the shed, a 'unit' A65. The poor thing's
been waiting for me for 15 years out there.
As faithful as a dog. My first bike was an A7.

A65 was a pretty bike and went well , I had several Bsa including a
rigid tail 350 , sprung shocked 500 twin and single , 650 and so on
One of the bikes I really enjoyed was a Royal Enfield 650 with a
chrome and candy red tank ( you remember that thick shiny chrome that
looked wonderful in the sun) which was not very old and consumed most of
the cash from selling my cooper , now as I remember my school chums
ffancis it was a bit smelly but went quite well apart from the smoke .
although not a patch on the litte 250 Yamaha I used to commute on (64
or 65 model) but would pull away from my Vello Le

I bought my 1957 A7 in 1964 for 20 quid and went for frequent rides with my
brother who has a 1956 Triumph Tiger 110. The BSA had trouble keeping up. I
fell off it only once, when a dog ran across the road following a couple of
kids. I was concentrating on the kids and the dog went under the radar, and
the front wheel. The dog had fewer scratches than me, as did the bike. I had
it for a couple of years and got an old Lambretta. Then I had no bike for
four years, one of which I was living in Sydney and, one and a half
overseas. As soon as we settled back from the US I bought a Yamaha YCS5
200cc twin, followed by a TX500, then bought my first Guzzi.

There were a couple of 250's for the kids to learn on. Trail bikes for Tim,
and three Guzzis for Helen, four for me.

My dad had bikes from as far back as I can remember and all my brothers had
bikes. At one point the seven of us boys had fourteen bikes between us. Only
one of my brothers still ride, as do two of my three kids, the other never
got around to getting a licence. My dad is 96 and he still inspects every
    bike he sees.

I remember as a very small child being taken in Grandfathers Douglas
side-car , of course by the time I was old enough to want a bike I had
to make do with a succession of Ajs/Matchless and other POmmie bike some
with chairs until I bought a Honda 300cc Dream While still in the 6th form
leading to some serious testing of Jappers like Rd350's MkIII and Mk4's .
The Macks had a tendency to throw me down the road numerous times most
of which were local street races , shame the bloody things had frames
made from jelly snakes unlike my first Titan , I don't ride a great deal
these days as the Dr informs me "You are going to kill your self" :)
Still got some left in the wrist turning stakes though
