    I wear them while driving long trips in the rattle-trap too. Works wonders
    for my attitude later in the day.

    Oh, gave the test to a co-worker who was a former welder. He flunked big
    time on the hearing portion (cannot hear the high notes).

    I'm not too sure about the generalizations/summary of the second
    article. The first bullet point: "Neither the riding position nor the
    brand or style of motorcycle make significant difference in noise level"
    is refuted by the first article which shows at up to ~15dB difference in
    noise between different models of bike.

    Unfortunately, given the findings in the first link, we might not get
    all types of earplugs allowed, rather full windscreens may be mandated
    instead :)
