Just popped the CCM in for its MOT. Bloke at the garage reckons it
needs the head races replacing. No reason to suspect I'm being taken
for a ride, but is half a day's labour about par for the course for
replacing these on an off-road type thingy?

    TIA etc

Half a day?! More like an hour or two max, depending on the amount of
    bodywork needed to be removed/replaced.

Two hours max I'd say, there's little in the way of bodywork to
remove/replace on a CMM of any variety.

.... and another hour this afternoon.

Taking up two turns of slack on the headrace, and tightening both
    topclamp bolts beyond finger tight.

    Much improved.
