He had "a mere seven seconds" to react.

I'm not surprised that the TSG sergeant got off the assault charge.
However, I find the notion that he had "a mere seven seconds" to react
absolutely laughable. According to his testimony after seven seconds he
still couldn't tell the difference between a carton of orange juice and a
weapon! I mean how fucking thick would you have to be not to be able to
work that one out in 7 seconds?

Yep, I'd say so. Read the testimony.
    Close together, were they?

Whilst I'm generally in agreement with you on this one she does sound like
    she needed a good slapping.

Because that would have meant answering questions about her conviction
for assaulting a police officer at a protest march 2 years previously.

erm, if the police aren't allowed to use their batons, why are they
    allowed to have them?

Anyway, this "Delroy Smellie" perhaps you can't say you ever noticed,
but he's a coloured gentleman - perhaps he was attempting to apprehend
her for wearing a loud shirt in a built-up area.

Ah, was that it? One of the news reports I read mentioned she'd declined
appearing as a witness because she knew her lifestyle would come into
it, but I didn't know exactly what it was.

Exactly, so all this 'innocent protester' stuff is absolute bollocks.
The woman was a fucking idiot who wouldn't back off when told and
deserved a slap for it. She should consider herself lucky she didn't
    get properly whupped.

Some people never learn, they get a conviction for assaulting a copper
and then go back into a similar situation, rile the already highly
stressed coppers into protecting themselves and then complain about
brutality when things get a little rougher than they like. Tough shit I
say - If you don't want a slap, get the **** out when you're told to.

I detest serial protesters with a passion, fucking idle, leftie,
tree-hugging cunts who mostly need a good wash. When the cunts have
contributed something worthwhile to this society, only then should they
have a right to say how it should be run.

  16. Why don't you say what you think?

Irrespective of past form her treatment was appalling. If she'd been a
6'2" brickie then maybe a baton assault was appropriate.

Don't agree, sorry. When someone is acting up like she was, a mere
shove doesn't work and repeated shoves take time and distract the
copper from what he's meant to be doing, plus they end up getting into
a tit-for-tat shoving rally which encourages others to join in - soon
you've got a very out of control situation. Straight in with a decent
but not too destructive baton whack sorts it first time every time, and
discourages anyone else from trying it on as well. She wasn't going to
listen to the copper, she didn't take any notice of an initial shoving
out of the way, next thing is go for the big one and put her out of
    action, which he did.

To be prefectly honest, I think the officer controlled her quite well,
as in put her out of action and diffused a situation that had the
chance of getting out of control by focussing the other protester's
attention on her and not him.

She should think herself lucky she's in a country where she's legally
allowed to protest as long as she stays within the law.

  20. Why? The point was the disparity in size between her and the policeman;
he seemed to be at least a foot taller than her and was built er... like
    a brickie.

Besides nowhere have I mentioned the gender of the brickie so that's
    simply your presumption. Sexist ****.
