Hayden - Rossi

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Racing' started by matteo v argento, Oct 18, 2006.

  1. Hi!
    I´m Matteo from Italy
I read some posts here, and it definitely looks like some of the posters
really believe that right now Nicky is superior to Rossi.
I could agree on the fact that Nicky has done a great year, very
consistent, and sometimes also very fast.
Rossi, though, is on another level. Another planet, another sport. A
level occasionally approached by Loris, Marco and maybe Dani. Rossi is
    basically always up there. Always.
Imho Nicky knows that, better than us, and he also knows that this year
he has a unique chance , as it wont happen again. Next year Dani and the
800 will be very difficult to beat, for him. And Rossi will still be up
there. In front of him, most probably.

That´s the way it goes, right now.
Please do not think I write this because of my nationality, as my racing
heroes have always been American (or Australian), before Rossi. Freddie,
then Eddie, then Wayne. They were THE gods, back then. I didn't care if
they weren't Italian. I´m just very happy to witness one of the best
riders ever seen since bikes use disc brakes.

ah, and i still believe Nicky can make it.

Go wash your mouth. He only *looks* good because Rossi has had 3
    failures

Rememer what Rossi did to Hayden when they had the same bike?[And
    everybody else]

The simple FACT is Rossi has a pox bike [AND still wins on it] IF he
    had a factory HRC
bike the racing would be boring and the Championship would have been
    over months ago.

Another fact is Rossi is THE best rider ever,Period,Fact,Proven and
    Done

I see a pattern forming, Hayden is like Roberts Jnr, cannot win and
    just rides for points...Useless really

He lost quite a few races to Gibernau
The "best ever" wouldn't have lost so many races to Gibernau and
    Barros. proven and done.
So, if all of Rossi's opponents are useless, how does beating them make
    him the greatest ever?

Without speaking on who is better or worse..
Id just say that Rossi is the prime example of a well seasoned
    professional.
Hayden, on the other hand, probably has more natural talent than the
majority of other professional motorcycle racers.

oh.. and hello my name is Stefano from California.
    ciao tutti.

Rossi's only 2 years older than Hayden, so the "seasoned" stuff in my
    opinion does not quite apply.

And I am pretty convinced Rossi is one of the most naturally talented riders
ever, it's pretty obvious from just watching him do playful stunts on any
two-wheeled vehicle every since he could barely walk. His dad, Graziano, was
extremely talented with a lot of feel for a bike, but had too much of a
classic style -he started late, I think- in an era when people were hanging
off and sliding. Rossi obviously inherited his dad's natural talent and took
    it to another level.

I don't think Hayden has shown anything that shows that he has more "natural
talent" than several others in the grid. He obviously is an enormously
talented rider, clearly among the very best in the world right now... but
then again, all those guys are fantastic.

    Dude, I said Hayden's a fantastic rider. All I said is I haven't witnessed
the "most natural talent" stuff, not yet. Watch my messages this season and
I think I have been in Hayden's corner when he's been attacked for being to
conservative, and I *am* rooting for him because I think he's ridden the
type of season where he *deserves* to win... smart, consistent, always near
the top unless some rookie mistake torpedos him out. And I'd like him to
nail it, so that it's not yet another Rossi championship yawn. So I have no
clue where you read that "we suck" stuff. I personally think there's a good
reason why there's quite a few US riders in the MotoGP grid... on top of the
fact that Dorna wants to increase popularity in the USA. :)

    Just for the record.

But Hayden "more naturally talented" than Rossi...? If you want to make the
point, then please bring whatever you think is supporting evidence to the
    table.

Good god, the man isn't talking about culture or laguage. He is talking
    about experience
on the tracks and how they grew up racing on many of those tracks.

It's not a "farm system" it's a pair of World championships.
You want it should be like the NFL? MLB?

There's America, and there's "abroad". Gotcha.

The NBA seems to. The n x $M US NBA gods seems to be getting their asses
kicked regularly at an international championship level, despite their
    sponsors fanatical endorsement... :)

Just kidding you. The NBA is the best basketball championship by a lightyear
on the planet. The world championship results are, as you say, just a freak
reuslt based on the idiosynchrasies of the national rivlaries. Hm. :)

Yeah, Dorna forces hundredthousands of spectators onto the Euromed tracks at
gunpoint, and uses obscure methods to dictate the sport's popularity onto an
unwilling Euromed public. Dude, it's simply market economy in action, the
stuff mostly goes where the core audience is. I'd agree the sport mostly
focuses on Europe, and that it'd be nice to see far more action elsewhere.
Then again, to claim it's a carefully orchestrated Euromed conspriacy is
so... oh well, we're getting used to it around here...
