  2. This is a dealer, or rather a breaker, sale. They have to add on their
mark-up of, maybe, a few hundred quid to make the sale worthwhile. This
is why buying SOBs from a dealer is usually a bad idea.

Saw a very tidy Honda CD200 benly outside a local dealer yesterday.
Maroon, all original, front guard beginning to go, as they do. 45k on
    the clock.

Now I sold a nicer one[1], with about 20k on the clock, to Lady Nina
last year for, IIRC, £450, including a load of useful spares such as a
pair of spare wheels and two brand new wheel rims, still boxed, to lace
    onto them.

The dealer was asking £600 for his one....

[1] Really, very very clean indeed.

Sigh. I may as well go back to the old identity :)
One of the spare wheels came in handy on the way home. Never pick up a
    bike when Timo is around.
It was, well it still is, it's just a little dusty.

  4. Heh. Couldn't remember your new alter ego and cba to google.
Yes, I'm still amused by that tale.

For those not in the know - she was riding it the 150-odd miles back
home, and collected a puncture about 100 miles into the journey. Must
have been one of the very few occasions when a motorcycle (not a
scooter, natch) actually had a serviceable spare wheel on hand.

And yes, Timo had previously been in attendance.

  5. hmmm. the XJ600 was quite a nice bike. I for one thought it looked better
and better made than the diversion.

But no, I wouldn't pay that for it. Mind, 38K is not much if it's been
looked after, ISTR them being pretty bomb-proof. I have it on good
authority that you can't keep up with an RD350LC on bendy roads though...
mate of mine crashed his as a result of trying.

My one is on 48K and is sounding as good as the day I bought it.
Regulator/Rectifier has been the only foible I have had with it. I also
kill back tyres in 4000 miles which seems a bit heavy for the type of bike.
Maybe it is all my straight line dual carriageway and motorway riding..

I think it's a great bike. It's tall, which makes it comfortable and it
will cruise up to 90mph without much effort and just runs and runs without
so much as giving it a wash.. The tallness does make it fun to ride in high
    winds though.
