    Great pickup. I must try this out on my old tubular-key lock. (Not
    kryptonite. 12 years old. I m. wire-cable type.)

    Does anyone know if this is a localised problem? Are other locks of this
    general type known to be vulnerable?

    And here's a bit of spin from the makers of this fiasco:

    <quote>
    Canton, MA September 17, 2004 - Kryptonite today announced it will provide
    free product upgrades for certain locks purchased since September 2002, in
    response to consumer concerns about tubular cylinder lock technology.
    Consumers can visit the company¹s Website (www.kryptonitelock.com) on
    Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2004, to learn how they can participate
    in the security upgrade program.
    </quote>

    So if your bike got pinched, then that makes you a concerned consumer,
    eligible to participate ..etc, etc. Pewk, vomit.
