Dont be silly. Even the venerable GS500 can pull 110 mph.
Not that I agree with the twat, but stupid exagerations only harm the cause.

Engine capacity is NOT a good measure of performance, Does a Ural go as
    quickly as a 750 Kwacker ?.

I do despair when non-arguments like that are trotted out.

OK, so some large bikes are less powerful than some smaller bikes. But,
generally, to make more power you need more cubes. Limiting displacement
is, therefore, a relatively effective way to limit maximum power.

Arguing that big engines don't make for big power is like claiming that
speed doesn't kill. Of course it fucking does - when you have an
accident, the faster you're going the worse you're likely to come off.
It doesn't mean that doing 150mph is guaranteed to kill you, it means
that if you come off at 150mph you're more likely to be seriously fucked
up than if you were doing 70mph.

Don't get me wrong, I like big powerful bikes, they're fun (not least
because if I'm on something small and puny it's great fun showing up
crap riders on bigger bikes) but I find it hard to argue that the cases
made by safety nazis don't often hold water. I'm just happy that there
are lobbyists out there with vested interests who can hold the safety
nazis at bay for just a little while longer.

It's about this time that some 70s throwback or other quotes that
fucking Rush song. So, come on, in Bear's absence, who's it going to be?

  5. 1450cc Harley: top whack, maybe 110. I rest my case.

Your case is what? That we should all be riding 1450cc Harleys because
    they're safer?

I'm going to make it quite simple, and you can all hold me to this. I
pledge it as seriously as I have ever done.

If Stephen Plowden gets his way, I will kill him, assuming someone
    else doesn't get there first.

Not particularly effective. You just end up with a load of highly tuned
and noisy screamers trying to extract the last horsepower from a small
engine rather than lazy large capacity engines. Limiting capacity is daft,
the real worry is that some safety nazi might try to push through a
horsepower limit or even speed limiters.

Agreed, but maybe a bit faster if you reduce aerodynamic drag by removing
the tassels. A bit more if you put the lardass rider on a diet.

    I was thinking of:

He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law"

  13. No. That a large engine is not necessarily an indication of huge power.

I would also draw sir's attention to certain 1.5 litre engines that
    are/were capable of 1800bhp.

I think sir needs to learn more about engines ;-)

Okay, never post drunk. Not the first time I've made myself look an
idiot, and won't be the last. My feelings are quite strong on the
    matter, though.
